Season 6 Episodes Ranked From Strongest to Weakest So Far · 2:44am Jun 12th, 2016
So far, the first half of season 6 has been pretty great.
Heck, I think it's safe to say that it's the best season so far.
There is not a single episode I felt would be among the weakest of the entire series.
And while it doesn't have any episodes as good as "Crusaders of the Lost Mark", it comes close a few times.
At some point, I'll get around to finally ranking season 5's episodes, but I think this is slightly easier for now.
Anyways, onto the list:
1. No Second Prances/A Hearth's Warming Tail (tie)
2. Newbie Dash
3. Flutter Brutter
4. Gauntlet of Fire
5. The Crystalling
6. On Your Marks
7. Spice Up Your Life
8. Saddle Row Review
9. Gift of the Maud Pie
10. Applejack's "Day" Off
I personally think that Newbie Dash wasn't the correct way to go for RD completing her life long dream, so I think it should be in a lower spot then that. Other than that, I agree with your list!
But I still personally think S4 was the best...but hey, S6 is pretty darn good so far! The weak episodes aren't terrible, and the strongest episodes aren't the best in the show...but that could change for the better or for the worse!
4085893 Part of the reason I put Newbie Dash so high on the list was mostly because of its comedy. The biggest moment, of course, being RD imitating her friends.
For me, if an episode is funny enough, then I'm likely to overlook its flaws when it comes to these rankings.
As I said in the journal, I think this season is the most consistently good so far, which is why I consider it the best.
4085907 Newbie Dash has grown on me. I do like the comedy--especially when she was imitating her friends. I still just feel it should have been a "CMC Got Their Cutie Marks! Moment" I know that the CMC moment was a huge surprise; so the proudness we felt for them was larger. But the Wonderbolts thing was built up to. The...strange premise, to say the least, made me feel...just happy for her. There is a difference between feeling happy for a character, and feeling proud. And I know the show can make someone feel proud for a character.
This season was consistently good.
4086325 True.
I think the difference is in expectations.
Regardless of the build up to the events of an episode, I judge each one mostly on their own merits, and how it fits into the overall scheme of things is more secondary.
