Writing Update and The Future of My Stories · 12:57am May 21st, 2016
Well, I do apologize for not continuing my writing as I planned.
For all two of you at best who are following these stories.
As luck would have it, my computer went down for quite some time, as it was in dire need of an updating to it's hardware and various other aspects. Unfortunately, I ended up losing compatibility with some programs, which included writing platforms. Which I have a new workaround, but it'll take a bit to update and transfer.
I've also been writing professionally away from the fics, where my ability is much more refined and proper for the sake of publication.
Now, that being said, I want to muse the future of these stories here.
Some of them I am quite fond of, while others not so much.
Let's do a new list to discuss these:
DisQord: I know a lot of you out there actually did like this. I myself was quite fond of it. However, as time goes on, it's harder to update it, and I don't really want to rush the end. At the same time, I feel that it's dragged out quite enough as it is. The nature of the beast (beasts, I guess?) makes it a very hectic story to try and maintain with cohesion, which becomes even more hectic to try and put on figurative paper; escalated by the fact that updates are infrequent.
My current conclusion is that I am going to keep DisQord on permanent hiatus.
The more I write it, the less happy I am with it, and the more slapdash it looks to me. So until further notice, I will no longer be working on DisQord.
Standoff at Pinto Mesa: This suffers a similar problem, but not in regards to cohesion. I loved the idea, and I adore westerns IRL. My issue here is that I have a lovely setting and characters, but very little direction for a main storyline, beyond my brainstorming notes. So this is also on hiatus, though not permanent. It will simply be on the bottom of the list.
Arcana: So, people really liked this. My idea I mused and worked on a smaller side project with a visual artist friend. It'll come back at some point. The benefit here is that it was never meant to have a 'bigger picture' story, but rather small stories in regards to the more ethereal version of Equestria I imagined. Will update randomly, and never 'truly' end. Chapters will be akin to issues, and the 'story' will be akin to a publication for it, since cluttering this with a bunch of tiny stories would be a waste.
Luna's Hope- The High Seas of Equestria: Perhaps my favorite to work on besides The Oldest World. I'll be returning to this shortly. Real world experiences lately have given me some good maritime inspiration.
The Oldest World: Just like Luna's Hope, IRL I've been having inspiration for prehistory and the seas. While the seas don't apply in this situation, my prehistoric itch has been scratched, and I'm feeling good. I'll coming back to this one soon!
