Some time after Discord's rehabilitation, an unusual statue is discovered that appears to be that of a human. It is later revealed that this human has been trapped in stone since Celestia and Luna were still foals, and after he's released, it is discovered that the human is Celestia and Luna's adoptive father, that hid them away during Discord's early reign.
This is only discovered after he recognizes them and calls them by their pet names that he gave them when they were both very young, those names being one of the only few things that they had remembered of him up until their reunion.
A heart warming reunion ensues, and over time, he regales the elements with stories of their rulers childhoods in between modern day adventures.
Some stories are happy or funny, others are very saddening.
Discord later apologizes for imprisoning him, and he reluctantly accepts, though states that he is still wary of Discord.
The ponies all gathered around the unusual figure as it's eyes slowly opened, his vision still blurry and slowly moving from one face to the other until his sight settles on two of them in particular.
"L-little moonlight? Little s-sunshine?" He croaked out as his consciousness returned.
The elements all looked at each other confused, then to the two royal sisters to ask what he meant, when they noticed their wide eyes and the beginnings of tears forming.
"F-father?" They both asked shakily, tears now slowly beginning to stream down their faces.
"My my, how my precious little girls have grown up." He replied to them as a smile began to form on his face, then he was brought into the tight embrace of his two crying daughters.
"There there, it's alright, daddy's home now."
