The first chapter of my new story sits at over 2,500 3,000 4,000 5,000 words and I'm not even close to finishing it. So far its been an overwhelming success and I feel like I'm finally building up some steam.
My editor has been rather busy so I can't tell you how good it is. Here's a preview of the first chapter, its a way of making up for the long wait.
Taking the key from her saddlebag, she turned the brass knob on the door and pushed it open. Beyond the entrance, a dark, empty room awaited her. Thick layers of dust covered every surface, cobwebs sprawled in every corner and hung in every exposed beam.
“Well, this place could certainly use a bit of…” She felt her nostrils flare up, agitated by the mounds of dust that were falling in the air, and promptly sneezed. “Spring cleaning.”
Withdrawing a notepad and pen from her bag, she scrawled a list of things she needed to do – her first task of course being cleaning every surface and restoring the interior to its once shiny and polished state.
I know it's not much but I hope it will keep you guys satisfied as I keep writing.
Let me know what you think.
