Some decisions I've made (please read) · 6:19am Sep 1st, 2012
Well, a little while ago, I posted a blog post saying I wasn't dead, and the next chapter would be up soon. Well, I AM almost done with the chapter, but I just went back and read it over. What I saw finalized my decision. It seems I am unable to create a character from scratch and portray them correctly, or create a different version of a character, or even correctly portray a canon character's personality. For example, Scootaloo. Not even a day since she knows John, she's already calling him daddy. John is kind of a "John Doe" (no pun there), and is pretty much a faceless puppet in the story, almost no personality of his own. Vinyl and John got kinda forced together as a couple, but since that fateful chapter, not much has happened. It's just like they're companions to each other, not together. John seems to have almost Multiple Personality Disorder, and my description quality sucks. I looked over my not yet published chapter, it's pretty much almost 1,000 words worth of John yelling at Trixie and belittling her. Just.....I don't even know what I was thinking when I wrote that. I mean, look at Secret Lightning. Even my rewritten chapters, which have gone over 6,000 words, still lack the essence, the very SOUL of a good story. They're just "Matt did this." "Then he said this." "Then he got superpowers." "Then he passed out. End of chapter.". The same is almost true with Denial (I've just given the story a nickname of 'denial', cause I'm not typing out the whole story title every time), for the most part. My point about my chapter being about John yelling at Trixie being.....I have no description in there. All dialog. So he's pretty much standing still, hands at his sides, screaming at her. Let's face it, my stories suck. Hell, I don't even know where to go with the storyline, besides a basic "Oh, I want them to do this at some point" every here and there. I are horrible author.
Now, the point of this post is not to either whore attention, nor is it to say I'm quitting writing. It's to say I had an idea. Now, every now and then, I've had random ideas for stories pop into my head. From small shipfics between uncommonly or never shipped characters that would actually turn out very nicely, to a Scootalove story, to a few others. But whilst having those ideas, I had an epiphany. Each one of those story ideas is a chunk of what my stories are missing. The shipfic idea, the romance my stories are supposed to have but are lacking. The scootalove story, would basically aid me in teaching myself how John should act towards Scootaloo. And also how she should act towards him besides calling him daddy after one day. (I have so much to "explain" in the next few chapters. Maybe I can turn them around.) Look, before you say "TL;DR", my point is that for now, I'm putting my current stories on the back burner (not that I've so much as touched Secret Lightning in a long time), and I'm going to be publishing my little ideas as either one shots, or maybe stories of a couple chapters or so, just to get myself used to the different elements my regular stories need. In a few days' time, I shall be publishing whichever one of them won the battle for first in my head. After I have done a sufficient amount of writing for those stories, I shall dive back into my main two. So for now they shall both be "on hiatus".
Now I also know that most of my readers, if I even have any at this point, probably won't read this blog post. I know I say that about blog post I make, but you have to admit it's true. Hell, I usually ignore blog posts too, unless the title sounds important. I have a feeling most of my readers by now have gone "Welp, he's taking too long. UNFOLLOW!". For those of you that haven't, thank you. For those of you that understand, thank you also. I just need to be able to write these stories without....FORCING it......ya know?
I think that's a brilliant idea! You go and make those stories, and I'll be there to read 'em!

My pleasure! I'm not one to comment often, because I always feel my comment will drown in a sea of other readers' comments, but I feel like now would be a good time to.... Also, what are brake pads?
327208 Alright, in a car, the brake pads are what are pressed against the front and back of each wheel's rotor disk when the brake pedal is pressed. You need two pads per wheel, one for the front and back of each rotor. Now, my car needs brake pads and rotors for the front wheels. Although, the rear wheels are drum brake rather than disk brake, considering I have a German car. If I need rears too, I'll have to get drums and shoes. They're named differently because they act differently. Disk brakes press the pads on the outsides of the disk, drum brakes press the shoes on the inside of the drum.

Ugh, cars.
Good plan.
