Rough Sketch

I've been kind of suffering from artist's block of late. So in order to prompt myself into action I did a series of fast sketches one of witch I decided to further develop.

I figured I'd post it here; It's another sketch of my favorite gryphon Matteo from Calm Wind's odyssey "Piercing the Heavens."

I'm going to have to reread Calm's description of him. But I remember him being described as primarily black with white tip feathers and Red eyes. I could be completely wrong. I'll have to ask Calm.

This is the main concept/reference image i use for Matteo, but more than one artist has put a more personal take on him based on preference or general griffon mythology.
