A Belated Hello... · 9:35pm Aug 28th, 2012
Hello!
This is my first blog post on FIMFiction, which is currently being written three days after I posted the prologue to a story that's been sitting in my head for quite a while now. If I'd been a bit more organised I'd probably done it the other way around, but that's just the way it is.
First of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who's commented on and favorited An Earth Pony's Tale. When I posted the prologue up on Saturday, I wasn't expecting as big a reaction as I got - it was my first story, and was in a genre that hasn't exactly got the best reputation, so I was expecting the whole thing to be completely ignored. The fact that it's received generally positive feedback is great news.
I figured I'd fill you in a bit a more on what the story is about. I've been quite vague about it in the descriptions and the prologue, but there is going to be a story and it's going to revolve around the character of Dawn, who was introduced at the end of the prologue. You'll get to know about her a bit more in the next chapter (the first 'proper' chapter of the story), but as I wrote in the description the story starts with her being pulled to Equestria unwillingly via a odd gemstone, and the general plot involves her trying to find a way back home. To say much more about what I have planned would be a spoiler, but I can say that I do have a plan for how the story is going to work out, and it will involve Dawn encountering the mane 6, the mysteries of the gemstone being explained, and... other stuff.
That's the plan, anyway. This is my first time at writing anything substantive - I want to write a good story with interesting characters, and hopefully I will, but this is all new territory for me. As I said above I'm very flattered that people have favorited the story based on the prologue alone, but it is slightly scary knowing that there are people out there who are invested in what I'm writing. Hopefully, what comes next will meet your expectations.
Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to try and cut my writing teeth on writing a long multi-chapter story based on a much maligned fanfiction cliché. But here we are.
Thanks,
TBB.
Don't write for us, rather, write for you.
That is to say, tell us the story you want us to be told, and not what you think we want to hear/read.
That being said, you've already got a great start on your project, and I can't wait to read what you have next.
