Yeah... from three weeks to four months? I would be so fired.
But not all of that time was spent goofing off. My mom put me through a four-week writing exercise where it didn't matter so much what I wrote. So between February and March, I basically tried to ignore Dan and Sombra, instead typing up a bunch of stories and theories piecemeal. Granted, I did a kind of wimpy version (250 words a day, rather than the 750 she says she does; plus one rest day per week), but it was good exercise and I got it done! Now we gotta figure out what my reward is going to be.
So how about that crystalling, huh? A lot of people have already pointed out the strangeness of naming your daughter after the near-cataclysm she caused, and I have nothing to add. Fewer people have pointed out that Rarity's comment about "a unicorn earning their wings" goes against what we think we know about Princess Cadance, since supplemental material tells us she was born a pegasus (new headcannon acquired!). And actually, I think I'm misremembering those comments, because there was definitely more discussion about whether Celestia and Luna were born alicorns or otherwise.
What I haven't seen anyone point out yet is that the crystal ponies weren't crystalline until the last ten minutes. What's up with that? They seemed to be behaving normally, and I assume they noticed their own coats, or at least each other's. So what caused the change, and why did nopony worry about it? Did the animators just get lazy, I mostly kid?
It's made a skosh more annoying because it affects some events in DVKS (and I'll try not to spoil much more about what). But only a skosh; not only were these events not in the outline, but I was always planning to take a semimajor detour from show canon. I just like to know when I'm breaking rules, and what those rules are.
ETA: Sorry, one more thing. I'm setting a new deadline for the second chapter. One week, Valve time, as previously calculated. Look for it next Wednesday.
