Metroid Prime: The Continuation of a great Franchise · 10:34pm Mar 29th, 2016

The Metroid Prime trilogy may be over... but the story is just beginning.

Metroid Prime producer himself, Kensuke Tanabe, has expressed extreme interest in continuing the Metroid Prime franchise, and not just with all those spin-off games like Federation Force. No, we're talking Metroid Prime 4 material here, everyone! And not just that, but Mr. Tanabe has also mentioned that he wants to make a new Metroid Prime game... with Sylux in it.

For those not in the know, Sylux was one of the six bounty hunters from Metroid Prime: Hunters. He was the most well-received of the six, and thus was given a small cameo at the end of Metroid Prime 3. But that was it... Nine years; nine whole years without any word of him coming back. It seemed like Sylux was just there for one cameo shot, and just a forgotten afterthought. Hell, we didn't even know it was Sylux back then until Mr. Tanabe confirmed it not a little while back.

And that was the moment when hope was brought back.

Since the admittedly disappointing announcement of Federation Force, Metroid fans became filled with hopelessness and doubt again. That is until Sylux was revealed in an interview with Kensuke where he expressed interest in making a new Metroid game with Sylux starring as the main villain. This opens up a whole SLEW of possibilities!

While the Phazon trilogy of Metroid Prime has ended, a whole new trilogy could be started. Let's call it... the Sylux trilogy for now, as we can assume Sylux would be the main antagonist of the game as Dark Samus was in Prime 1, 2, and 3.

EVERYONE POST BELOW WHAT YOU THINK THE STORY OF THE TRILOGY WOULD BE!!

I suck at ideas, so I wanna hear yours! Tell me what you got!

Sylux is hunting Samus not out of whatever money the Pirates promise but out of vengeance for the humiliating defeat from Hunters. He was supposedly one of the best Bounty Hunters and then she knocked him down. On top of that he has a seemingly strange vendetta against the Federation. At first we could assume that it's because he's a pirate... but then it's revealed SHE actually used to be a Federation Trooper. She went AWOL after her group decided to wipe out a village. Since then she's harbored a hatred at the Federation due to the actions of her squad. She has tried to show the world that the Federation is not as good and holy as they all think but Samus just keeps stopping her. Thus? She's also a target.

My idea: Sylux is actually Samus' long lost brother Salomon, who has been raised by pirates after Ridley destroyed their village

One possible thing I think would happen would be a reference to the title Metroid Prime. Metroid, in Chozo, means hunter, so a Metroid Prime would be the ultimate hunter. While the previous trilogy dealt with Metroid Prime, the entity, a new trilogy would deal with the title and how Samus and Sylux are both contenders for it. Sylux is presented as something of a foil to Samus, a Hunter, but working exclusively for the Space Pirates, much as how Samus works exclusively for the Federation.

Sylux a girl? Well, this would be the most surprising thing since the original Metroid! That would bring back a nostalgic feelings, though. :rainbowlaugh:

I like this one! Sounds like Sylux would be more of a tragic antagonist than anything else, doing bad things for the right reasons. Wouldn't surprise me if she ended up doing something extreme and becoming a monster, in which Samus would obviously have to put down.

I've heard about this. Was this canon from the comics? If so, that would make sense. I actually like this idea! Though, perhaps the whole "I am your [insert family member here]" thing might already be past it's prime.

(See what I did there? :rainbowkiss:)

3835546 And to make it worse? The monster thing isn't voluntary. It's a project to bring RIDLEY back again... so once again Ridley screws up the life of another bounty hunter and Samus.

Two champions of warring factions going at it. Y'know what? I like that too! Imagine a final battle like that where time has just stopped for these two warriors who are standing before each other in a final duel. Whoever wins the battle wins the war. Tensions are through the fucking roof and all the way to Mars!

Sylux becomes like a second Ridley?

Wait...

...would that make Sylux the final boss or Ridley.

:rainbowderp:

3835566 It makes them BOTH the final boss.

*heart skips a beat*

Metroid Prime lives on :pinkiehappy:

And not in silly spin-off games! Hurray! :pinkiehappy:

No tetris/Pinball imitations for marketing :yay:

BTW how did you like Prime Hunters?

I was probably the only one who ever existed ever who didn't hate the controls. Sure, I didn't think they were the best, but I certainly didn't hate them! As for the actual game itself, for a DS game where the graphics were decent and the memory was limited, I thought it did a pretty good job. Nowhere near my favorite Metroid game, but still I found enjoyment in it.

Probably why I'm so accepting of Federation Force.

Since they measured my deaths I felt like not dying once. OMG that was the worst perfectionist decision of my life. Falling into the void of space...getting crushed as a morph ball...*shudders*

I didn't like using the stylus to move around so much. I didn't HATE it but it gave me arm cramps.

Perhaps a new mutation of Metroids have infected a mining colony, turning them into Metroid-Human hybrids

...Well, that's certainly a new one. :twilightoops:

Not to say I don't like the idea! :twilightsheepish: I've just never heard of that before. I mean, it COULD happen, but there'd be some serious experiments going on with the Space Pirates. Why not have Space Pirate Metroids? :scootangel:

3837123 That could be interesting. I have an odd idea for a fan crossover game, crossing Metroid with Dead Space. Imagine, playing as Saamus against Necromorphs
