IMN, author of From Biochemistry with Love:

Thank you for favoring from biochemistry with love, may I ask what did you like most about it?

Honestly, I have to admit, I most liked the fact that the scientifically-minded character thought of love as a process, and realised that to "consume" such a process would violate the law of conservation of energy. I particularly liked that he was not depicted as saying that "love is only a molecule" or some other such nonsense.

To be blunt, emotions are processes; thoughts are processes; consciousness is a process; and life itself is a process; since vitalism was disproved over a century ago, every scientifically literate person has known that they are processes.

Casually accusing the non-religious of thinking that people are "only molecules", as if that sort of thing self-evidently followed from not credulously accepting the existence of the soul, is something I do not like. I think that it should be a blemish on any work of fiction in which it occurs, just as racism is a blemish.
