Road to Season 6: Season 2 · 10:22pm Mar 10th, 2016

This is the moment where everyone knew this show was more than a "little kids program". Unfortunately it begins to deflate toward the ending, but still holds up. After all the changes that occurred throughout the years, this is probably still the best season.

The Return of Harmony (both parts): Discord remains intact as the best villain of the series, the alternate personalities are hilarious (my favorite is Appleliar) and the ending is so, so satisfying. 5/5.
Lesson Zero: This is the episode I save affection the most, not because its good, not because the dilemma is credible, not even because of this scene:

But because this was the first episode I watched. 5/5.
Luna Eclipsed: Pinkie Pie is annoying as well as Rainbow Dash, but Luna's character is interesting and Pipsqueak is a welcome addition to the cast. 3/5.
Sisterhooves Social: Although I like the Apple sister's relationship, not even them can overmatch this scene (I actually cried the first time I watched it):

5/5.
The Cutie Pox: Predictable and out of place, but still enjoyable. 3/5.
May the Best Pet Win!: Tank is my favorite pet next to Opal. It's a shame that his debut episode was so predictable, still enjoy the 127 Hours parody though. 2.5/5.
The Mysterious Mare Do Well: Rainbow Dash at her top and bottom, it's hit-or-miss for the most part but what ruins it is the ending. 2/5.
Sweet and Elite: Great song, great development for Rarity, Opal is a good support pet (unlike Angel, who I'll get to him later) and Fancy Pants is a great addition to the cast. But that ending... That. Ending. 4.5/5.
Secret of My Excess: Best Spike episode to date. An excellent entry for Spike. It's a shame his relationship with Rarity has been forgotten over the years. After all the staff gave us this scene:

Sparity FTW. 5/5.
Hearth's Warming Eve: I know the importance about this one, but it seems very underwhelming and forgettable. 3/5.
Family Appreciation Day: A great moral and plot and some character development, but it feels like a normal one. 4/5.
Baby Cakes: This is an improvement over Stare Master, good work Charlotte. 4/5.
The Last Roundup: It's very forgettable for the wrong reasons: the plot, although predictable, is well-developed, the jokes are funny and Cherry Jubilee is another welcome addition, but when the only part everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, remembers is this:

You know something went wrong (no pun intended). One of the most overrated episodes in the entire series. 3/5.
The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000: Flim and Flam and the ending can't do anything to save this generic plot, not to mention the torture towards Rainbow Dash. 3/5.
Read It and Weep It: I understand the moral and reason of this one, and the jokes are funny, but it's also so... normal. Not to mention Daring Do will become the first clone in the series, symptom that will affect it in the future. Too bad for Rainbow Dash, despite this being her best entry in this season. 3.5/5.
Hearts and Hooves Day: I still support Cheerimac to this date. Yeah it was forced in the beginning but with little details in future seasons will support it. Oh and this scene:

4.5/5.
A Friend in Deed: Another curious case of an episode I initially didn't like, but after so many many times I can officially say it's an enjoyable one, along with one of the best songs in the series. 4/5.
Putting Your Hoof Down: I know this is a hated episode, I know the reasons (Angel, Fluttershy being out of character, Angel, blaming Iron Will for something he's not responsible of directly, Angel) and I can understand why, but to its credit Fluttershy being a jerk is enjoyable because this is an angle we haven't seen of her and getting revenge on everyone is funny, also the moral is good. The only downside is that, apart from the previous mentioned, Iron Will is a "could have been" character, consider it as a guilty pleasure. 2/5 (4/5 in my case).
It's About Time: I can't remember anything besides Twilight in her Solid Snake outfit. And sometimes being forgettable is worse than being bad, thanks Larson. 2/5.
Dragon Quest: Another hated episode that I initially also hated, but after what will happen in future seasons, I can consider it as a guilty pleasure, hope season 6 get this concept better. 3/5 (1.5/5 pre-seasons 4 and 5). Ignore this idiot, Season 6 gave us an excellent remake for this one and this episode can go back to 1/5.
Hurricane Fluttershy: Best Fluttershy episode to date, no comments, Flutterdash FTW. 5/5.
Ponyville Confidential: I have to give credit to Larson: despite being mean-spirited near the ending, Diamond Tiara and her "Jameson" attitude save this one from being forgettable, that and Rarity-Sweetie Belle relationship. 3/5.
MMMystery on the Friendship Express: Although the mystery is good and the plot is unpredictable, it's poorly developed. Probably worst A.K. Rogers episode in the series. 2/5.
A Canterlot Wedding (both parts): The plot is generic, the pacing is dull, Shining Armor and Cadance are bland, monotone and unidimensional, not to mention the elephant in the room (they appear out of nowhere and this, plus the previous mentioned problems, they'll carry over through 3 more seasons). An overrated episode that if it hadn't been for Chrysalis and the music it would be placed lower. 3/5 (2/5 the first part and 3.5/5 the second half).
