The music generator. · 6:32pm Aug 24th, 2012

Like the sound?
Me neither.I do.

It is basically these few riffs, repeated ad infinitum with constant shifting in the scale, removing/adding few bars, few guitars with overload of reverb and chorus, freestyle (read:sloppy) drumming and completely random solos across some hipster musical scales,et cetera.

Why I am interested in this, you may ask.
Because of its repetitiveness ant technical structure it is possible using randomization, presets and fractals to generate said song almost without human interaction.

One click, and bam, you have a 70 minute EP of your experimental band that was too lazy to show up on rehearsal.
Very likely you would not even bother to listen to it, just pack it, get a friend to draw an ugly cover, put in on your shelf and show off everyone how much of an artist you are.

Sorry for that, back to the topic.

I will not bore you with music theory here (not like I know much, I am just a poor computer science student)
Let us just say that with SOME effort you could create a decent-sounding sound, either for ambience when you write (I find these songs really relaxing and stimulating)
or for futher expansion in real music software like FL Studio or Ableton.

So, few things:
#Ability to create notes from custom patterns according to set rules;
#Ability to randomize created effect;
#Ability to create the song structure by itself;
#Ability to save file for editing;
#Ability to playback created music;

Later, if this crap actually will turn out to somehow work, it could be expanded with various ambient sounds/violins/trumpets etc.
Listen to this for example.

2:35. FUCKING MAGIC.

For starters, a guitars/bass guitars/drums will suffice tho.

Now, as much as I would like to get to work, I have no fucking idea how to start; Either way, I will probably finish the interactive story of space simulator first.
Or nothing like usual.
