While writing this crossover is a lot of fun, there's one part in particular I'm not looking forward to. Mainly because it's shipping-related and I can't skip it without making it obvious that I did so.
This isn't my first experience with shipping backlash. On a different site, someone once bashed me because all of the characters I wrote were straight and that meant I was homophobic and ***ked up. Even though I don't typically write romance in general and a gay character doesn't really add anything to a story in general.
What does this have to do with To Save a Life? Really, there's no good option I can take here. I either avoid the shipping and endure the blacklash or I include it and make something I'm not proud of.
At the end of the day, even though this is a commission, it's still my story. And while I won't go out of my way to tick people off, I'm not going to compromise my standards to make people happy. You can't please everyone after all. I hope you guys will stick with me regardless. And remember
SHIPPERS DESTROY LIVES.
Go with what YOU want and enjoy. Everyone has their own opinions and ships, myself included, but that shouldn't stop you from writing what you enjoy. Whichever you choose, I look forward to the next chapter.
The shippers on this site are pretty chill compared to the horror stories I've heard. You're not likely to get told off like you did on that other site.
You write what you want, not what your fans want you to write.
