    Drabble

Pegasi had a belief. It gave way to tradition, then superstition, and finally to aphorism, but it grain of truth in it persists. That you can tell all you need about someone by the sound of their wings.

Why is there no Changeling story called...

    "All Love Is Unrequited?"

Anyway, it's been a while since I made a blog post for...various life reasons. This is mostly to check in and prove that I am not actually dead. Also that I have written some 25k words of original sci-fi in a month. I am hoping I can keep this up! And give you all a story with jovial insect aliens, sassy AIs, and a mystery.

Apotheverse Gilda and Trixie? · 1:35am Jan 30th, 2016

So I haven't covered these two and don't know that I will.

Given that we know a lot more about gryphons in the Apotheverse due to Cartography of War, and with the events of Apotheosis and Triptych, the perspective on these two antagonists (I wouldn't even call them proper villains) should be different. Especially since I don't think either of their return episodes were particularly good. Trixie's was better but Gilda's was terrible.

So what are your thoughts on these two in the Apotheverse?

I forget, exactly how early in canon is the Apotheverse set to diverge? Pretty early, right? Did both Trixie's appearances even happen?

If Twilight Sparkle became a full goddess prior to the Alicorn Amulet incident, I doubt Trixie would even consider it a viable way to show Twilight Sparkle up. If she did buy it, it would be solely to give her act more punch, rather than to go confront Twilight.

Eh, Griffonstone wasn't that bad. And that whole Idol of Boreas thing, I choose to believe that the orb in it was some sort of godhead in a can, hence why the cyclops goat stole it. Weird chimeric monsters in MLP always seem to know where to find good ancient artifacts of power.

Hey, the Apotheverse griffins are down a God...

3721983 It diverges soon after Luna Eclipsed, though it's somewhat vague exactly when. It doesn't help that Trixie's appearance is actually meant to be early S2 rather than where it showed up as well.

3722002 It was that bad :derpytongue2:
Yeah, they're down a god, though I don't know how many mortals understand exactly how important that is.

I take all the episodes with a grain of salt, given the target audience and the time constraints on world building. Yes, some episodes (writers) do it better than others, but it happens. Griffonstone suggested to me that griffons in MLP have an affinity towards pride - pride in their culture, themselves, etc. They'd put their pride in a 'false idol' and when it was stolen, lost themselves. Pinkie and Dash helped Gilda learn to be proud of HERSELF and what she could do, and that in turn attracted other griffons to help her pass along the message. I sort of imagine Gilda in that instance rising up to become queen of the griffons.

Of course, Apotheverse griffons are super different. They're not just grumpy, aggressive pegasus who don't bother learning weather control. I imagine, given how Apothegriffs have a keen sense of honor and personal strength, that Gilda is likely a wreck trying to reconcile the 'betrayal' of Rainbow Dash with her childhood respect for the same. I really liked the "Dash stood up for Gilda and they became friends because Dash was griffon-like in her behavior" aspect of their childhood from the Griffonstone episode. THAT bit, I think, could work. Reconciliation would be rough though... I can't think of anything other than forcing them into a situation where they'd be forced to a) work together for survival and b) admit the real reasons behind their actions in the past.

Trixie... well, she's a showmare with a huge ego. It's entirely possible that she'd still end up under the influence of the Alicorn Amulet (which I headcanon was created by Sombra during his rise to power) and wreak some havok when her desire for fame and respect got out of hand.

3722024
It also doesn't help that there's good evidence the episodes aren't entirely in chronological order.

Anyway, if Magic Duel already happened, Trixie's probably working as a traveling showmare again, if it didn't she might still be working on a rock farm, waiting for the ignominy of being caught in a lie to die down.... Probably not like in Fou Du Bulbe's comics, much as part of me wants to picture that.

3722024
Well, the ARE going extinct, so there's that.

I'm glad someone else out there didn't like Griffonstone. :B

Gilda is likely a wreck

That'd make for a hell of an intense story, though yeah getting Dash and RD in close proximity long enough to work that out would be tricky. Maybe it'd be possible as part of the general pony-gryphon-hippogriff stuff - the hippogriffs are responsible for fixing the god issue but I'm sure the mane six would be involved somewhere along the line.

I actually rather like those comics. Not only are they cute and well written but Marble makes a great foil to Trixie, personalitywise. That said Trixie's basic cutie mark compulsion is near pathological given that honesty is a core requirement to the general dynamics of pony society. She needs someone to keep her from falling off the edge she's treading.
3722745
Well if you've read Cartography you know how much effort I put into a unique and potently non-pony culture...and then Griffionstone was lazy. I wouldn't have liked it anyway, but Cartography made it that much worse.

3722849
Heh. Yeah. It'd take more than Dash and Pinkie looking for a macguffin, that's for sure. One point I did like from the episode, though, is that Gilda still cares about Dash deep-down, even as angry as she is with her. Or, well, that was my take-away.

If the hippogriffs are the key, and Twilight's been ambassadorial enough, SHE might be tangentially involved in what they're doing even if only as a catalyst figure. There is that 'hole' she might feel compelled to fill, OCD-style. And since Twilight tends to get her friends involved... dunno. Maybe Dash and Gilda can beat each other up a bunch and then start to reminisce.

Sombra is linked to the Alicorn Amulet quite often, but I'd link them both to a second eldritch artifact as well...
vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/5/56/Twitter_promo_Inspiration_Manifestation.png/revision/latest?cb=20140424010925

In my headcannon, Sombra's possessed by the Inspiration Manifestation spell, which leads to him crystalizing and grandeurizing his hometown, much like Rarity started doing to Ponyville.
As things got more out of hoof, he started reshaping himself into a darker vein. He became obsessed with the Gods and Goddesses, and created the Amulet to ascend, seeing in his madness that he was as powerful as Discord ever was, reshaping what he could see on a whim.

It didn't work. He was shattered, first in mind, then in soul, then, finally as of the Season 3 opener, in body.
But the spell and the amulet call for their purpose.

It would be interesting, to me, that an Amulet forged for dark deification, could potentially wind up in the claws of someone with an opening in their pantheon, and a hurt in her heart.
It would be interesting, to me, for a sorceress hurt in the world to be found by a spell to bring her show to the world.

But that's just me :)

Sounds like good story material to me!

3724291
You're welcome to it :)
I've tried the author thing. Find I prefer being a Dungeon Master.

Honestly, I think you could do a better job than the writers. (Then again, they only have 20 minutes, cut them some slack. :P) So, I say, go for it! I'm just looking forwar to your new story, since up until now, I've loved every single one of them.
