Pegasi had a belief. It gave way to tradition, then superstition, and finally to aphorism, but it grain of truth in it persists. That you can tell all you need about someone by the sound of their wings.
Anyway, it's been a while since I made a blog post for...various life reasons. This is mostly to check in and prove that I am not actually dead. Also that I have written some 25k words of original sci-fi in a month. I am hoping I can keep this up! And give you all a story with jovial insect aliens, sassy AIs, and a mystery.
In this post I set out three artifacts that I thought were appropriate for my Apotheverse trinity. However, there may be other options, and weapons are not the only kind of artifact. What can you come up with?
The Sun Spear: A shard of the sun, mounted onto a pole of unknown material. Celestia is reluctant to take it for it's hiding spot, as it's impossible to wield without burning both friend and foe.
The Dreaming Moon: A sphere of gleaming silver, a little smaller that a pony's head. It responds to Luna's slightest whim, and moves as if weightless. However it carries the weight of every nightmare and secret she has gleamed in ponies' dreams. To anything other than Luna, it has a the mass of a mountain. Nightmare Moon was unable to wield this, as her own dreams added to it's weight.
The Little Candle: A artifact passed down along Night Light's family. The little ugly candle rests in a corroded brass candle holder. When lit, it never burns out, so long as it's held, and it always gives just enough light to read by.
3704223 I do like those! I like the candle the most honestly. Though, it wouldn't surprise me if that's something Twilight could fairly reasonably make given the magitech we see throughout the series.
Finally thought something up. I was trying to think of something more "generic" but stumbled on this idea the other night and wanted to try it:
The Eye of Aquila An old curio collector, with a better sense of the worth of an item instead of the value, wanders the length and breadth of Equestria dealing in random oddities of times long past. At some time, he came into possession of a plain-looking but extraordinary monocle. A single ring of steel encircles an ordinary-looking lens. The steel and lens, however, are impervious to damage, and the lens itself is always free of dust. Looking through the lens grants one perfect vision at any distance near or far, and has helped the collector focus on his ledgers on many a late night. What he may never know, is that when the monocle is exposed to the magic of Aquila, the wearer's vision becomes Perfect. The steel frame becomes polished silver, the glass lens becomes crystal-clear and the Eye will remain with its wearer until removed. Additionally, facts become obvious, deceptions and lies melt away and intentions are laid bare. For Aquila himself, no secrets can be kept from his sight, and his foes' strengths and weaknesses are revealed in perfect clarity. It is his weapon, in as much as any griffon needs a weapon.
I don't think it would fit the Apotheverse, but at some mysterious point, I got the idea stuck in my head that, possibly, Celestias, Lunas and at some point in the future, surely even Twilights 'ceremonial gear' isn't just for show and to keep up appearances. What does it mean to be struck by a goddess? Maybe those horseshoes reduce the power they - purely physically - wield? So that if they strike with a hoof, they don't just instantly knock somepony through the next best wall. Maybe their breastplates (what's this thingy called, anyway?) contain that which they stand for - blindingly bright light or scorching heat in Tias case, bitter cold for a lonely moon far away in the dark... and the pure, unchallenged insanity that comes with true knowledge of all things that shouldn't be understood by a mortal mind...
... then again, the idea with that candle really sounds great, yeah. (And waaay less sad and tragic. )
Well, the obvious: The Heart, for Cadence. It's literally on her butt, and it's a literal heart powered by the love of her people.
Then again, I don't believe Cadence is a thing in the Apotheverse? Maybe she's there but just a background pegasus?
....yeah I got nothing. Midnight really isn't the best creative time for me, I guess.
Hmm. This definitely sounds intriguing. I'll have to brainstorm a few things and see if I can dream up something that fits in the world. :)

Given that Aquila is the Judge, that's pretty accurate!

That was kinda the idea. :) Was fun to work within the theme, especially to figure out how to "weponize" it.
