I just finished the last scene of my new fanfic — namely, my entry for AppleDash Contest #4. I had a vague idea for it before, but the contest was what gave me the inspiration and motivation to actually start writing it. There's still some blanks I have to fill, and I'll need to read through it once to make sure there's nothing that needs fixing, but barring any unexpected difficulties, it should be done sometime before a week from now (which is when the contest deadline ends). However, that's not what this blog is about. Instead, I'm here to talk about a discovery I made while writing it: that I actually legitimately enjoy writing.
You see, prior to "You're a Terrible Liar", the only pieces of fiction I'd ever written were short stories I'd had to write as homework for school. Due to my lack of inspiration or enthusiasm for them, they ended up being horrendous. Like, I-want-to-eradicate-any-and-all-evidence-they-ever-existed horrendous. When I made YaTL, it felt weird in a way to have actually written something I could be happy with — proud of, even.
Of course, writing either one of these fics wasn't exactly easy (as evidenced by the upcoming one cutting it so close to the contest deadline). However, despite the difficulties, I believe I'm beginning to truly love writing. In fact, I have several ideas for other fanfics already, and while they're still largely vague and unformed, I'm starting to really want to write them, instead of just letting them float around in the back of my head. So I guess what I'm trying to say here is... while it's going to be months from now at the very least (not counting the new fic), you can look forward to more stuff from me.
PS: For the record, I intend to have all of my stories take place in the same universe, unless otherwise noted. In fact, the upcoming one may or may not contain a few things setting stuff up for another story I have in mind...
