Falling Thoughts - What Lies Beyond · 4:21pm Dec 6th, 2015
This forth installment of Falling thoughts is another poem titled "What Lies Beyond." If you missed the previous installment, check that out here. I was originally planning for this to be another free verse, but as I wrote it, my mind quickly began developing a rhythm along with a rather simple rhyme scheme. It was almost as if it was instinctual. I wasn't trying to developed one at all, it just happened. Interesting how that works. Anyways, this one is a question of what comes after we die, along with how confusing and frightening that kind of unknown can be.
What Lies Beyond
By Dreamscape
Conscious leaves body,
slipping away from reality?
Or escaping a cage,
a cage that binds us to our age.
What lies beyond is a mystery,
a mystery which has plagued us for history.
Only able to catch a glimpse, the idea seems so foreign,
but we are still so curious of what comes after our reign.
What exists?
Do we still persist?
After it all, do we still survive?
And possibly do we even thrive?
Or is their silence, not even rest?
That is what makes this question so pressed.
The answer will only come with the end,
or is it the beginning? For that, we have no message to send.
