Lost Marbles!? What Happened To You?

    Howdy, y’all.

I’ve been silent on FimFic for a very long time, and this blog post has been a long time coming.

    What an incredibly bizarre feeling...

I just binged the entirety of DEVILMAN Crybaby, and while the somber tones of the ending where still settling in my brain, I turned on the first episode of Cyborg 009 VS Devilman.

    Medieval Coroner Reports

On Saturday, August 9th, 1298, a candle on the wall in a small shop in Oxford fell onto the floor and ignited the straw flooring. John and Alice Trivaler, the husband and wife operators of the shop, that was also their home, rushed out of the burning building; however, no sooner than when they reached safety, to Alice's utter horror, she remembered her infant son of only four weeks was

    Huh... I was there...

I slipped and twisted my ankle during this storm and spent three depressing days snowed in a hospital. And that was when I discovered Fimfic.

Never knew it was a part of meme history.

The Good Dinosaur · 1:32am Dec 3rd, 2015

Was nothing I expected it to be.

Besides a bit of corniness at an otherwise emotional moment, this movie was excellent.

The biggest surprise? This story had a central theme: Fear.

Oh, that's good to hear. The reviews I'd been reading had drifted mixed to negative about it. "Excellent" sounds like something I'd like to see, though.

Is it worth seeing in theaters though? I'm just curious.

Good question. I worked in a theater for many years and still have good ties with the people there, so I still get to watch movies for free. That may have affected my disposition. That and I did go in with low expectations, as I expected it to be something stupid like Cars or Cars 2.

I can't say much about why this film might have gotten mixed reviews, but I remember always thinking Okay, at the next part I'll go get a refill but never did. To keep me glued to my seat has to mean that this movie wasn't bad.

If I were to nitpick, I don't like it how the boy acts like a dog. It didn't make much sense to me. I thought it would have been more engaging if he acted more like a primitive caveboy rather than a dog. Sure, make him a good sniffer and all around barbaric, but stop it with the howling, barking, and panting. There was one scene, one SCENE, that this actually ruined in my opinion: It was a bonding moment between the dinosaur and the dog boy, they learn about each other and howl. Now, if they cried it would have been a lot more emotional. The howling? Sounded too cheesy, even for me (and I write stories featuring MICE for goodness' sake). I knew the mood that scene was going for, but I couldn't take it seriously.

3588831 Hmm, interesting. I think this might be one I wait for it to come out on a home release of some kind to watch it. :)
