After finishing Rainbow Dash: Equestrian Hero, I started to get an idea. However, instead of adding another to the growing list of stories I want to work on, I'm going to share it instead. Hopefully, someone will like it enough to write it. Or several actually. As I've said before (or think I have), even if several people have the same idea, it can end up being very different for each other.
It is based off of "Cutie Re-Mark."
The main characters would be The Cutie Mark Crusaders, but not the ones from the show. Instead, each comes from a different timeline. Scootaloo from the war with The Crystal Empire (hence the connection to Equestrian Hero), Apple Bloom from the one with the changelings, and Sweetie Belle from the world where Nightmare Moon rules. They are also older than in the series, as in late teens or full adulthood. They would also be very different personality-wise from their modern canon counterparts due to the experiences they had in their realities. Through some means -- be it a spell, artifact, or advance technology -- the three of them manage to travel through dimensions, and end up in the present in the main universe. Now they have to adapt to a very different world. That would be where the main conflict comes in, trying to adjust to this world where -- while by no means peaceful -- seems to be in a far better state than the ones they came from.
Alternative ideas is that they can be inter-dimensional travelers, moving from reality to reality and trying to fix things for each time-line. Or, Diamond Tiara could be with them, being the one to come from the changeling time-line, while Apple Bloom is from the Flim Flam brothers' one.
The version I have in mind is a slice of life, fish out of water type of story. They don't want to draw too much attention to themselves, nor do they want to risk changing the future of this reality, but they also aren't exactly used to what they are now looking at.
Although now that I think about it, another option is that they go back to the Rainboom, stop Starlight Glimmer, and end up traveling to the present with her and Twilight Sparkle.
