So... Since I have manged to get my writing back on track, and it is likely I will publish within the next months. I am happy to announce that My Little Pony: Icy Hearts, Tempered Bonds has finished it's prologue and will soon be moving to Chapter 1! I want to thank all of you for the support during the worst writers block I have ever had, but it is lifting now, I think. Thank you all, and I hope you are excited for what's to come.
Since, like my last novella, I am basing it on a good What if question, namely "What if Ponies vs. Satan?", and the fact that I am making this as a pilot for if I were in charge of a sequel series. I feel it is necessary to fill you all in on what has happened in between the end of the TV series and when my new fanfic takes place! Just a few good to knows, not necessary for enjoyment of the story, but appreciated.
18 Year Time Skip
As I said, it has been quite some time between the end of the show and now. As a result, the Mane 6 are in their late 30's to early 40's and the CMC are in their late 20s. Also, baby characters such as Pound and Pumpkin Cake, Cadence and Shining Armor's baby, and my OC Down Beat are at least 18 years old. Perhaps older.
Birth of Princess Mi Adventura Di Cosma
Cadence and Shiny have had their child now, the first Alicorn in years to be born and not ascend. Princess Cosma (or, as her family calls her Coz) is rather pampered, not knowing much hardship as she grew up. She has a good soul, but she is very naive. She has spent the last ten years studying magic and it's origins under the tutelage of her Aunt Twilight.
The Book Of Harmony
One such Classic Text that has been taught to young Coz is the Book of Harmony. A complex Ancient Historia that details everything from the planting of the Tree of Harmony to today. This text appears to update itself as the years pass, each time it does, a new stained glass window appears in Canterlot Castle. No one knows who the original writer is, all that is known is that he is still writing.
The Passing of the Torch
The last major event to be documented in the book was the passing of Celestia and Luna. There time on Equis came to an end and they passed to the Realm Beyond, joining many ponies they had lost along the way. Truly a bittersweet moment. Tearfully, Celestia said goodbye to her charge, yet per Luna's request, left her in charge of the night, not the day. When asked why, Luna replied.
You saw the value in the starry night from the beginning, even when I couldn't. You pulled me out of my Nightmare, and I know that you can pull others out of theirs.
Cadence was left in charge of the day, and the two took on the responsibilities as Co-Regents of Equestria. Cadence with the help of her family, Twilight with the council of her friends.
Scratch
One of the less glamorous responsibilities of the new princesses is dealing with a mysterious pony simply calling himself "Scratch." It is unclear who exactly he is, other than the Warden of Tartarus, the prison of damned souls. He comes every month to play chess with Twilight. Celestia warned her that she must keep doing this, no matter how unsettling his demeanor. It is always important to know how he thinks.
Harmony and Entropy
The first tale in the Book of Harmony is a peculiar one. It tells the story of the first two Ponies ever spawned from the Tree. Brother and Sister, Harmony and Entropy. Harmony set about in an orderly fashion, creating ponies and the laws they used to govern themselves. She had great care for each of her creations, she considered them her children. Entropy had a more mercurial taste in creation, throwing together whatever seemed like it might work. This approach created the other races, and the various beasts that roam Equestria. While his sister admired his creativity, she disdained the lack of responsibility he took for his creations. Often making one race the enemy of another and setting them to war. Entropy defended his actions, saying that keeping his races ever free was paramount. Harmony countered.
This is not freedom, brother. To you, this merely be sport.
A war erupted, and Harmony came out the victor. She tearfully banished her brother to the deepest pit she could send him. He screamed as he fell into the void.
Be warned sister, this is not my end. I will return, either by my hand or by yours! I will make a realm of my own, to collect those that you have abandoned. My realm shall eclipse yours and all others. In the beginning there was the seed, but in the end there shall only be Entropy.

Maybe it's just because I binge-watched it a couple weeks ago, but that kinda reminds me of the storybook in Once Upon A Time...
