Several times while reading a story on this site, I came to a point where I was saying:
-"Yeah... not really my cup of tea",
-or: "I don't see why anyone would write that. What's the point?"
-or: "Cool story, excellent work, but it's simply too long for me to read right now- actually, that kinda suggests that there is nothing pulling me forward..."
-or: "Look at all these typos and use of swear words... this must be a kid, like, 13 years old or something. I guess I'll just leave him alone",
-or even: "Oh brony, that is just sad! Anything I could say would crush that poor guy, so I'll just leave it".
The point is, in all these cases I just move on without leaving a comment or a rating. I go with the principle "If you can't say anything positive, say nothing at all". Then I realized: Wait-a-minute! What if people are doing this with my stories as well?! How can I ever improve if I get no feedback, the only implicit feedback being "not enough people care about this to make it a top story"?
So if you read this: This is an explicit request to all you wonderful people out there to speak out when seeing one of my stories, even if your input is something like these examples above or something similar. Would be cool if we could make this a general rule for this site, but I guess many people wouldn't like that.
BE THOU NOT AFRAID! THOU HAST IMPRESSED US WITH THINE STORIES GOOD PONY.
Er.. um.. yes, well... I like your stories quite a bit actually.
6157 And if you were the only one, that would be reason enough to keep on writing them
I promise, If I ever see something I don't like in one of your stories, I'll tell you straight away. I'll have to look pretty hard though. Seriously, your writing is amazing!
