Spike getting some love next chapter · 9:29pm Nov 15th, 2015
Well I've offically done it, I beat Burning Sky in word count, and the only problem I can see with this upcoming chapter is I'm at 14k words, and still haven't wrapped it up. So depending on my second opinion, you know who you are, it may end up becoming a two part chapter. However, that is not what this is all about since I'm pretty good about getting to the point in titles.
Spike I feel is a character that needs some love, and not the kind of love you're all thinking right this minute. My shipping leaves something to be desired and I couldn't do him justice. Though I admit the kiss shared between Spike and Rarity could blossom into something if I put my mind to it.
It is my belief that someone with Spike's job cannot pick up on a few things here and there. In the way he sometimes has to take care of Twilight when she gets into some of her fits only proves he can show maturity when the need calls for it. I want to capitalize on that and try to get him to make a decision on his own without the backup of his normal circle of friends. Like much in my AU version of Equestria. You get some awesome background that is semi realistic given his hatching circumstances at the school of gifted unicorns.
Spike also has to work with a cannon character introduced to the show during the dragon migration episode. Garble is not too quiet about his issues with the ones that humiliated him. It is not a hostile meeting or working relationship, and eventually through Garbles own actions prior to this. The matter is brought to a close.
In essence the chapter is to showcase the outcome of Blueblood's take over of the Equestrian throne through experiences of those trying to stop him. No harmony rainbow lasers and no real happy ending. Although i wanted to give Spike a boost in standing up for his country and for accepting to aide a group not part of his normal circle.

From the sound of things this chapter should prove interesting. Blueblood's storyline is something I've been looking forward to, and there's definitely some good story telling potential with Spike.

I made a preemptive strike, it was my goal to give you a heads up, I'm actually working on it right now. I seriously want it done, I've been in the same area now for going on a month or more. I had most of the chapter written a week after I posted the last.

There's been a few times I would have been lost without the help of my pre-readers. I spent days trying to figure out how to start my most recent chapter and finally it was a 20 minute conversation with my editor that gave the solution 
Yeah, that's always frustrating. Was it a because other stuff getting on the way of writing or writers block? If it's the latter I hope you know I'm always happy to help if you think bouncing ideas off someone will help you figure out what you want to do.
