Falling Thoughts - Become Nothing · 5:46pm Nov 8th, 2015
This is the first installment of my distribution of poetry, short stories, and thoughts that I've written almost as a quick guilty pleasure whenever I've had the urge to write during this semester of college, and didn't have the time to work on anything big. I've decided to title this series of pieces "Falling Thoughts" because all of these pieces spilled out straight onto the page from my head and most of them tend to be fairly dark and depressing in nature. Tells you what kind of semester I've been having. I guess in a way, this series will portray the darker side of my thoughts even though that's not what I was intending for it to do. It just happened to turn out that way. Anyways, the first piece I'm going to be sharing with you is a free verse poem titled "Become Nothing" that I actually wrote only a few days ago. It's about someone special to me and how our fights can so easily affect my anxiety riddled, self-doubting head.
Become Nothing

You say I’m perfect,
that I mean the world to you.
But I know I’m not,
and so do you.
I try my best,
and you act like you can see it.
But I know you can’t.
You’re there,
always wanting more.
I’m here,
doing my absolute best.
You seem content,
but you always want more,
out of me,
but what else can I be?
The time comes,
it seems,
about once a month,
when you get too greedy.
Act like I’m not enough,
like everything I’ve ever done for you,
and everything I ever will,
it means nothing to you.
I’m worthless,
that’s how you make me feel.
All you want is more,
and I become nothing.

Writing can be very strange, especially if it's loose and not following a solid construction. I used to write a lot of stuff like this in my first few years of writing, so I'll admit this poem takes me back a few good years ago. Not sure with that last statement of mine if that's a good or bad thing.. but regardless I enjoyed what you wrote above.
