Windows 10 Ate My Laptop and I Am Now An Expat · 12:03am Oct 30th, 2015
That's about as accurate a title as I've ever done. Apparently a software glitch caused Win10 to dissolve itself just enough to warrant a total format of the laptop. None of the repair options worked, and the whole C drive got wiped during a failed repair process. Now, I back-up a lot of things, but I don't do it every single day or every time I have something new to back up - I will now! - so you can see where this is going.
A few pages of SSCS6k are gone and I'm only now starting to add back to them. Compounding the problem is a little piece of news I forgot to share earlier this month: I've moved to another country! You can imagine how much time that leaves for writing, between looking for a job, settling in and meeting new people. Well, I need to do more of that last one, but still.
It's all a bit overwhelming, but in a good way.
Oh, and fuck Windows 10.
I know the next laptop I buy, when I can afford it, will come with 10, but for now I'm once again enjoying the stability of Win 7, even if it's now quite as shiny and useful.
And I have to say, I love my laptop. This thing is indestructible. I just have to make sure to keep Update KB3035583 very much unchecked the next time I have to update it.
