Canadian Election KMCA's observations. · 9:28am Oct 20th, 2015
Well I did my part twice over. I worked a polling station as security (technically I was hired by the location, not Elections Canada, but close enough)
And I voted.
But damn, looking at those results. There are some real close ones. Soo many areas had results closer than 5% just casual looking around at other ridings results has shown some REAL close ones. Just outside Winnipeg for example there was a riding where it came down to 51 votes difference. I know more than 51 people here who DIDN'T vote... Me and the owner of my company actually had a chat about this yesterday too.
"Elmwood-Transcona" (Winnipeg outskirts)
34% NDP (14,699)
34% CON (14,648)
29% LIB (12,537)
Every province I'm seeing votes coming down to 1% differences, to me this beyond reassuring. It means next election people in those ridings will be even more likely to vote as they'll be more likely to believe their votes actually matter.
Like it already does, but now maybe the thousands of people who don't vote will actually believe it.
Newfoundland was a Liberal ROFL stomp. One riding was 82% Liberal.
My own riding remained NDP, much to my lack of surprise (and my polling station being as out of the way as humanly possible for a downtown riding (seriously, who set up the locations for Hamilton Centre? They're a mess! One guy literally lives across the street from a polling station in his riding and had to take a 20 minute drive to get to his assigned one.)
