Episode Impressions - Brotherhooves Social and Crusaders of the Lost Mark · 2:09pm Oct 12th, 2015
First, feels so good to start an episode without being spoiled on anything.
Second, I'll probably do these impressions for every new episode.
Third, and most obvious, only read this if you already watched both episodes in the title.
Let's start with Brotherhooves Social, which I just watched. In the start, we get some continuity from Made in Manehattan, with Applejack being summoned by the map. Right from the start, it's obvious this will focus on Big Mac and Apple Bloom. Going a bit forward, we get... Cousin Orchard Blossom. Or, as I like to call, Big Mac after Midnight.
Seriously, this part made me almost quit this episode. I just couldn't take Big Mac crossdressing. I know it's not meant to poke fun at anything, or to suggest he likes crossdressing, but I just couldn't watch it.
Anyway, I sticked to the episode. And it was worth it. Big Mac's dress comes off, the judges still allow him, but his lack of sportsmanship disqualified him and AB. However, that final scene with Apple Bloom and Big Macintosh was really touching in my opinion.
Moving on, we get... Diamond Tiara's character development?
I started this episode knowing one thing: DT's mom would appear in it. That's all. Starting the episode, the CMC have run out of things to crusade, apparently, so they sing a song. Then, Pipsqueak appears and asks for help, since he's competing against Diamond Tiara for Class Pony President. He wins after another song. And then, something surprising: Silver Spoon is tired of Diamond Tiara, and they stop being friends. Way to go, Diamond. And then, another song. After that segment, Spoiled Rich is a bitch. Guess we know where Diamond gets all her bitchiness.
Skipping a bit, Diamond goes to the CMC clubhouse, and is actually nice to them. Only for a while, though. Pipsqueak appears and... DT goes back to bitching. And, at this point, it felt like Magical Mystery Cure for me, because another song appeared. Apparently, Diamond chose the Dark Side of the Horse. We get to the school and, guess who appears? Spoiled Bitch. After DT confronts her, she... becomes friends with the CMC? Wow.
Moving on, Tiara's trying to fix both the playground and her past mistakes. And we get yet another heartwarming moment with the CMC, and I'm ready to call this episode...
Wait...
Well, hello there, Cutie Marks. Didn't expect that.
After all they've been through, they discovered their talents: Helping other ponies understand their talents. Huh.
That's it for these episodes. Thanks for sticking until now, and probably next week, we'll have another one. Maybe.
