Promises. Memories. Redemption. · 1:33am Oct 3rd, 2017
I'm sure you're already tired of this. I always say I'm working on a sequel, then vanish for a few months. Or perhaps I don't, and I'm just misremembering. The fact is, I promised a sequel a long while ago. And it never left my mind, even as I walked away from the fandom.
Now it's been over two years since Summer Twilight was written. Did it get some recognition and praise? Yes. Am I proud of it? Not at all. When reading it again, I can barely see any development. Although it's probably healthy that I think this, since it means I'm improving. But enough dwelling in the past. I've been listening to a playlist while writing this blog and it's the third time I listen to the same song so I'll be succint.
The famed sequel to Summer Twilight is officially in the works. Contrary to my previous 4500 words divided in three chapters, I plan on making this one at least 20000 words long. Plan being the key word. I might be satisfied after a 10000 word chapter. I might need more. Only time will tell. I will, of course, take some poetic licenses to fit the first's canon, and probably a few more to make it more enjoyable and less... realistic. So I say, but what I mean is "I haven't seriously written a story in two years and am rusty". Between my new fandoms, I lost all interest in the show after trying a bit of S6, so unfortunately I'm not aware of anything past Season Five, other than the events of the fourth Equestria Girls. Fortunately, Summer Twilight was already sort of an AU, so I can just figure whatever I want. For now though, enjoy the result of three hours staring at my keyboard. It was creepy, seeing all those keys pressing themselves, but their work isn't half bad. I wish I was that good at writing.
The playlist is now at its fifth iteration, so I suppose this is a fine cutting point. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a three month period where I'll go into hiding before I write the next 100 words. You can expect me to be done with this sequel by the next two millennia. Perhaps three.
So is this planned sequel something you'll be proud of? If it is, I'll be glad to read it. If not, I'll still read it and probably still enjoy it. Good luck with your ambitions. Glad to see people still writing stuff. I'm off to go read summer twilight!
