So, today, I changed my FIMFic username, and the pen name I have over on that other fanfiction site. Why?
Simple; THIS.
I sympathize with Device Heretic's plight in this. I've been bitten by old writings of mine in the past (you don't even want to know what I wrote for alt.barney.dinosaur.die.die.die back in the day), and I decided it was wise to change up and obfuscate my true identity for several reasons:
1) Drakat is a known alias among RL friends of mine, and some out there in RL and on the intertron who I am not precisely friendly with any longer.
2) I do actually want to be a published author FOR REALZ some day, and do not need my 'for fun' writing complicating anything that potentially involves embarassingly large stacks of cash.
3) My current day job has a political climate that resembles what happens when you toss a basket of kittens into a pirahna tank. See above about complications, only with less embarassing stacks of cash.
4) If I were to awaken in Equestria tomorrow, "Trouble-Shooter" would be the most likely name to match my special talent. Interpret that as you see fit.
5) It helps keep the missus from finding, and teasing me about, my pony fics. She's not a hater, she just doesn't get it, and doesn't want to. That's okay, I tease her about her fixation on Supernatural slashfics.
That said, I figured I should at least give everyone a heads-up to avoid confusion. Writing will resume once I shovel all my drafts over to the new GDocs account.
