I saw Friendship Games...

...And I'm both annoyed and tired.

[SPOILERS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET]

So, To those of you aware Flash has been feature a lot lately(his own Short, the two dolls and a few other things) and aright before the rid movie which could lead alot to assume that he'd be pretty important in Friendship Games, right?

AHAHAHAHAHAHA. No. Not even remotely the case.

First and foremost, I do not hate FG. It was...fine, I suppose. It just feels less epic compared to the last two, and for a writing standpoint, that makes sense. If it was just action/high adventure all the time it would get really boring, really fast so the change to High School rivalry stuff doesn't really bother me.

Sunset is steady becoming very much like Twilight, and I don't mind this. It'a a good progression of character for her. The songs were....okay. I still think RR has the best sound track of the three movies(which makes sense) but they weren't bad. Just...under whelming I guess.

Now for our antagonist: The Shadowbolts. Some time ago, I held a Q and A where a user named 734265 asked me how I felt about them and I said I have no opinion on them? That...hasn't changed. I have no opinion on these girls except for the fact that they are the anti main six. Hell, two of them(the head phones girl and Indigo Zap) hardly get any lines. As such, I really don't feel anything for the SB in the foreground. Background SB(and Human Twi) I care deeply about(shocking, I know)

Human Shining and Cadance look awful. H. Shining was wasted. The CP Principal is terrible(design,voice, personality) and I don't want to talk about her anymore.

I feel like the movie just piled too much BS on Human Twi. She didn't have any friends, save for Spike, and while some of the Main 6 try to change that(and more than likely will) I wish she could have had <b>someone</b> sit down and talk to her without assuming she's up to something(and I mean before the last five minutes of the movie) Which is a decent segue into my next complaint.

The sheer and utter waste that was Flash Sentry.

I'm livid about how much of a non entity Flash was despite the promotional stuff. And I get that Josh Haber is a safe writer or some bull, but come on. What was the point of all this promotional stuff if he does less than the first movie?! This just turns him into a joke(A joke I'm sure then fandom will run into the ground). Why not have him fill the role of friend to Human Twilight? The scene where she runs off crying would have been a perfect use of him! Also, he clearly didn't care that she was from CP so it wouldn't have felt forced! Hell, take it a step further; maybe have him call Sunset out on her hash words or something? I don't know! But, as it stands: this is the single worst thing that has been done with Flash. (Yes, even worst than that). It's super fucking upsetting when fan work portrays a character better than official work(And no, I don't just mean my work). Though if I an say anything is this; this movie was eye opening for me. It shows that Hasbro and DHX do not care enough about Flash to do anymore with him. So, it's up to his fans. But fan work can sadly only go so far, so even then....

I will say I liked Nightmare Twilight and Alicorn(?) Sunset. It actually felt pretty ironic and reminiscent of EQG. I feel like Sunset has come full circle with this. Also when Pony Twilight shows up and talks about Time Travel loop...possible foreshadowing? >:3

All in all, Friendship Games is a mixed bag for me....I'm hesitant to call it bad, but a lot of elements and characters could have been utilized better and fleshed out more. Flash, I hope to what ever god is out there that you fall into the hands of a good writer one day, till then I guess it's up to the fans....Yare Yare Daze.

Well, I'm bumped out. I'm go watch some History of Power Rangers and see if that improves my mood.
