Progress? I suppose. · 3:51am Aug 4th, 2012
August 3rd, and I've written only a little under 2,000 words. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be.
I now have 6,000 words to write over the rest of today and tomorrow if I want to stay on track. I think part of the problem is that I planned out the scenes I wanted to write, but I didn't go into enough detail with them. As such, I'm getting caught up trying to figure out what exactly is happening and falling into a rut each time.
Anyone got any tips for fixing this particular problem?
I have that problem from time to time (like now) and I can only tell you what works for me: dialogue. Find the character interaction in the scene, and start writing what they say to each other with just enough action and tagging so you'll know what's going on later. It doesn't get your word count up, but it should give you the skeleton of the scene, and often the scene feels more natural that way than if you just know what has to happen and write it.
That might only work for me, because I think in character conversations. All I need are two characters and a subject and they start talking to each other in my head. I should probably see a shrink about that, but instead I just write.![:ajsmug:](https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/ajsmug.png)

Hmm, yes. Dialogue. That could work. I may start writing other parts of the story instead of writing it in order as well. I wanted updates to be done quicker, but it's not doing much good if I'm stuck on a section anyway.
