Chapter 17 Bummer Avoidance Recap · 1:20pm Aug 24th, 2015
The following recaps events in Chapter 17 that, honestly, were waaaaaaay heavier than anything else in that story.
ONLY READ IF YOU YOU'RE AVOIDING THE MAJOR BUMMER THAT IS CHAPTER 17 OF NEWBORN MARE.
Thank you.
RJ wakes up in a desert-like Sweet Apple Acres. She has difficulty remembering what she was just doing, and while trying to recall stumbles over the lifeless bodies of her friends and families.
Running in horror, she finds the Sweet Apple Acres sign has been replaced with one reading: No Hope. She sees Ponyville and the rest of Equestria are desert as well. Discord shows up to gloat, takes her hat, and fades into the dust and wind.
RJ lays down to let the dirt just wash over her, but she hears a voice telling her not to give up. Heeding the voice’s request, she decides to bury her friends and family, so that she can move on.
After fighting with a rickety cart, she manages to load up the bodies and bury them. She remembers the good times and promises to honor her friends’ and families’ memories.
She picks up the No Hope sign, and writes Hope Farms on the back with a rock.
Determined, she heads back to the house, ready to take on the next task.
I won't say that this was way heavier. Yes, this chapter pretty much aims for direct depression, but (at least for me), that's what makes it much easier to bear. Probably because it's quite a bit more predictable this way, I don't know.
