Trixie's Reboot: Sneak Peek · 2:14am Aug 21st, 2015
Hello everyone. I know I've been talking about rewriting my Twixie stories for quite some time, but I know actions speak louder than words. I've grown as an author so much in the two years I've been writing on this site, and I owe that, in part, to you: my readers. A lot of you have been following me ever since I started writing Trixie's Return, and if not for your kind words and positive feedback, I wouldn't be where I am today.
I'm happy to announce that I've finally begun working on the reboot, in the midst of working on the next chapter of The Quest. As a special "Thank you," I would like to give you all a sneak peek of what's to come. I'm feeling really good about this, and I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I'm enjoying writing it. Without further ado, I present to you the first few chapters of the new and improved first chapter, entitled, "An Unexpected Guest."
THUMP!
Twilight stirred in her slumber, grimacing as she was disturbed by the noise. She rolled over in an attempt to drift back into her dream, only to have her eyelids assaulted by the bright glow of Celestia’s sun. The young princess clenched her eyes shut and brought the blanket over her face.
THUMP THUMP!
Twilight groaned loudly in protest as the pesky noise persisted. Making a scene for a nonexistent audience, she tossed herself over to face her bedroom door once more. Slowly, Twilight cracked a bloodshot eye and gazed grumpily at the clock on her bedside. It read seven o’ clock; she’d only been asleep for a couple hours. Why on Gaia anyone would be so persistent in pestering her at this hour, she couldn’t imagine. This had better be good, she thought.
"Twilight Sparkle!" Twilight groaned once more at the sound of an all too familiar voice. Rarity must have been magically enhancing her voice, because the sound was shaking the walls as it cut through the hot, stuffy air of Twilight’s private chambers. It was loud enough to send a piercing pain through to Twilight’s eardrums and leave a ringing in its wake. "By Celestia's mane, you get out of bed and open this door this very instant or I will have Applejack knock it down! You simply must come out and see what is going on!"
Twilight groaned once more as she threw her covers away and got out of bed, ensuring her friend could hear the non-verbal complaint. It didn’t seem to be effective, because Rarity’s shrill screeching raged on through her door and continued shaking her home. A canvas painting of Starswirl the Bearded fell from her wall, only serving to further irritate Twilight. "...It's an outrage! It's utter calamity! It's a riot!" Rarity continued. Twilight began stomping her way across the room, leaving hoof-shaped dents in the hard oak floorboards.
Just before Twilight slammed open her door, Rarity struck a dramatic pose and shut her eyes. Caught up in her theatrics, she failed to see her friend shooting daggers at her, just centimeters away. Her magically enhanced voice boomed on as if Twilight had never left her sheets. "Of all the worst things that could happen, this is THE. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING!"
As she finished, Rarity heard an irritated exhale through flared nostrils, and she could feel the breath upon the hairs of her own muzzle. Flenching as she slowly cracked open an eye, both widened in shock when she saw Twilight’s face, so close to her own. Twilight looked to be the textbook example of exhausted, and from so close, Rarity could see every detail.
