Hey everypony!
School starts tomorrow for me! I'm so excited! 
As long as I can stop being sick. *grumble*
I have so many awesome afternoon classes... I HAVE A BIBLIOPHILIA CLASS!!! You know what that means! I can stuff my face with books and call it learning! Well, I think that's what it's supposed to be, but you never know. There are other classes like home ec and life skills which I'm excited about. Home ec will most likely be childcare or cooking. Since it's a private Christian school, I also have a History of Revival class which I'm giddy for as well as Bible class which is my favorite next to Bibliophilia! Call me crazy, but I love school. As a main morning class, I have Spanish. Which is so cool since I'm thinking about being a missionary to Costa Rica and/or Panama. I'll probably focus on getting the best grades and memorizing it for that class. We also have a Christian service class where we do cleaning and stuff around the school. I kinda hope I get last years job; I kid you not, I cleaned classroom bathrooms and scrubbed toilets. Hey it's not that bad. I kinda liked my job. I did some of my best brainstorming and story expanding during that time. So if you ever get writer's block, go scrub your toilet, it'll help.
I'm also drinking koolaid and munching on a grilled cheese sandwich. 
I'm a legit Twilight Sparkle when it comes to learning. If I could get paid for it, I would spend the rest of my days reading books. I would.
I promised myself I'd never say legit, but I did.
The sad thing about school is that I'll have to spend less time on the internet. I'm hoping to work on extra stuff so I can graduate in 2018 instead of 2019. It wouldn't be bad to graduate a year later, but It would be cool to graduate when I'm 17, plus I'd actually graduate with my friends. Yeah, I'm probably insane. So you'll see less and less of me. I'll have to quit some things and drop what's not important. It's nothing against you guys if I leave something or don't read your stories right away; I just need to prioritize. Don't worry, I'm not going to unfollow people.

When learning a new language, especially if you intend to actually use it, focus on functionality, not rote memorization. Cramming words into your skull is great for passing tests, but if you don't actually use any of them in your day to day all you'll have to show for your efforts is a really nice GPA. I know it's not fair, but no foreign national is going to care how you did in your high school foreign language elective.
Set aside a half hour or so a few times a week and watch some telemundo, or search YouTube for popular central American TV shows. As you gain proficiency follow along verbally with the actors, paying attention to accent and idiomatic inflection. If it's an option, a conversational language club can work wonders for your fluency.
Don't get me wrong, classwork is an important part of linguistic study; just don't confuse the process for the prize.
Edit: Sorry to sound so pushy. I just have flashbacks about language school.

Thanks for the pointers. What's cool it's that I've been emailing with the wife of our missionary in Costa Rica. Since they're both nationals from the area, I get replies in Spanish with a few English words thrown in. I just got a reply this morning. I was able to make my own translation before getting a real one. What I've heard and learned is that one cannot fully learn a language without firsthand experience talking and listening with locals. I'm very excited.

Oh my gosh (yay self censorship!). I'm offline for like a day and a half only to come back and see this. I mean, I understand stranger danger and all that, but seriously. Someone goes in for a hug and that's how you react? Assault them with an obviously unstable attack bird who hits them with a stick? That's... That's just cold, man.
