Expectations for "Friendship Games"

With the first two shorts aired and the movie premiere on the horizon with the others, it's only fitting to post what some of us hope to see in the upcoming "Friendship Games".

The Illusions Return

The trailer has already confirmed Trixie to return in the film. What her role will be, if any, remains to be seen. Minor or major role, awesome news. But what of her bandmates from "Rainbow Rocks"? Will they show up alongside the G&PT? Will they participate in the Games? Or will they be temporarily put on a bus?

As much as additional characterization is needed for Flash to push him further from the Mr Nice Guy stereotype, Lavender Lace and Fuchsia Blush deserve some more as well. Sure, we've seen them pantomime haughtiness much like their band leader, and show a hell of a lot of loyalty for her, but some fleshing out of their individual personalities would be nice. The closest thing we got to anything is Jordan179's A World of Illusions.

And voices. They could use voices. Maybe Madeline Merlo and Shylo Sharity, the singers for Sonata and Aria respectively?

Judging from updates to the EQG site, seems like the Lacey and Fu--and needless to say, Trixie--will feature more prominently within the EQG franchise, however long it lasts. Who knows, they might even receive canon names.

Come to think of it, I'd love to see one of the Shadowbolts (preferably Sugarcoat) diss Trixie and receive a mouthful from Lavender and Fuchsia.

More Screentime for Flash Sentry

Don't shoot me down just yet.

What do we know about Flash Sentry? He's a guitarist with his own band, a young man who respects his elders, and someone who is willing to help others on a whim. Nice Guy, okay. Any negative traits? If "Rainbow Rocks" had anything to reveal with the Sirens' spell, it'd have to be envy and a lack of self-confidence. What else? If there are any analogous occupations or positions between Equestria and CHS, Flash is probably in JROTC.

Another matter of concern is his feelings for Twilight. He has a crush on the princess we know and love. What will happen when her human counterpart arrives on the scene? Undoubtedly confuse her for the other Twilight, yeah, but will they get together in the end and keep the Flashlight thing on that side of the mirror? Or will it be held off for a future film? Hell, will this have an affect on their equine counterparts?

And since "Life is a Runway" was dedicated to the toys' outfits, will we see Flash in his K-Mart set of duds? More than likely. Sunset and company are wearing them in the trailer.

So many f*cking questions.

Sunset Reconciles With Celestia (and Returns to Equestria)

This goes without saying. Sunset will have to tie up loose ends with her former mentor sooner or later. Which means she will have to mirror hop to Equestria to perform such task. It's the closure many of us have wanted since Sunset's redemption at the end of the first film. With the appearance of portals to another dimension popping up in the trailer via Sci Twi's doing (or Principal Cinch's; got my eyes on you), it may lead to alternate methods of reaching Equestria, and thus greater opportunities for Sunset and Celestia to bury the hatchet.

Will she be ready for it though? She's gone through a lot of the course of the series, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's ready to face her mentor. It might be some time before Sunset decides to take that step.

This may or may not be an excuse to see Sunset in her pony form again.
