So Renet accidentally took the turtles back in time 16 years and they met Tang Shen and baby Karai, as well as Splinter and Shredder before the fire. They accidentally mess up the past when Tang Shen sees them and Shredder saves her. Donnie checks a picture on his T-phone and discovers Casey is erased from the picture. To fix the future, the Turtles pose as kappas (turtle spirits) and convince Tang Shen that Splinter was the right guy. (During their talk with her, Leo was holding baby Karai and it was so adorable!
) In spite of this, April is erased from the picture as well. Then the guys run off to stop the fire, but Shredder's foot soldiers stop them. When they finally get back to Splinter's dojo, the fire had already started. Shredder and Splinter were fighting inside, so Tang Shen left Miwa/Karai outside and went in to stop them. We all know what happens next. 
Shredder gets burned and runs outside and steals Karai away. Splinter and Tang Shen are still inside, buried under burning rubble, so Leo and the turtles rush in to save him. Although Tang Shen is already gone, they manage to drag Splinter out to safety, and then they leave. Donnie checks and Casey and April have been restored in the picture. The timeline is back to normal. A few days later, Renet finally returns to take them home. She explains that the reason they came here was to save Splinter's life. She returns them to New York, kisses Mikey on the cheek, then returns to her home.
