New To This and Story Stuff · 7:06am Jul 23rd, 2015
So, I'm pretty new to this community. I new about the culture for a while and never really had an interest in it. My roommate was a borny and collected plushies and stickers and other stuff like that. He also would listen to the fanmade music. Hearing the music wasn't that bad, even though I didn't know anything about the show, I would hear songs about the show and the characters in it and like the music. I especially like The Living Tombstone's remix of Discord, which I guess a lot of people like it better than the original, and I like Nightmare Night. But I still didn't have an interest in seeing the show.
My roommate did early on asked me to watch an episode, but he didn't push it when I said no and never really offered again. I later saw a few videos, thanks to him, but they were shorts or a pony version of a youtube channel I already watched, i.e. Game Grumps. It never really bothered me, and despite not getting some of the jokes and references in the shorts, I enjoyed the videos. But still didn't have an interest in the show. I would ask him questions about the characters and what some of the videos references, but that was about it.
So, a few weeks ago, I was bored, looking at Netflix for something to watch. My roommate has already watched My Little Pony on my account, so it's already in everything. So, I decided to watch the first episode. It being a two parter, I naturally watched the second episode. I didn't see what the big deal was at first, but I figured that if I truly wanted to give the show a try, I'll sit through the first season.
So, after watching all the seasons on Netflix, and first part of season five, I'm now waiting for it to come back from hiatus. Vinyl Scratch found her way from my roommate's room to my room. Applejack is now my background image on my cell. My desktop background cycles through ponies wallpapers and is 20% cooler. And I'm working on a fanfic, inserting one of my characters that I had made many years ago into the universe because I wanted to.
So, ya, I'm still new to this culture. I use to roll my eyes at my roommate when he talks about it or I look at his ponies. And a year ago I would say that I would never watch the show. Now I'm on a website typing a blog out about all this. I still him for it.
So, ya, I'm working on a story. Actually, it's more like I've finished the first draft of it and I'm now going back through it to fix some things, grammar, mannerisms, spellings, details, and rewriting some stuff. I feel I got their mannerisms well, I do a lot of acting for my local theater group so I pick up stuff like that pretty well. Applejack's a bit of a problem since she got a bigger role than I had originally planned and I'm not that good with southern/country mannerisms. So, I might have to work on her a lot more than the others. I do need to work on details a lot more right now. I feel it kind of lacks in some places and the pacing gets slowed down a lot. My other problem is I don't have a working title right now. I don't have any ideas for one. If I had one, I may start posting the story and do updates when I get suggestions or if someone notices something wrong. But until then, I'll be rereading it and fixing it.
I'll try to update a progress report when I get through with this reread. Until then, I hope I can make this into something that will be well liked.
