Story Idea

I've always enjoyed those pony and game crossovers and recently I saw one that was full of potential but was wasted.

I was thinking of writing a story along the same vein but with less of the flaws that made this crash and burn.

I think ibgar abandoned it to do his twilight the traveler story i've been reading.

I remember reading that a while back. It was interesting in the beginning, but then Twilight kept prestiging into a bunch of different "classes" and going through massive time skips. It stopped being a story and started being an example of how boring New Game+ is when you inherit all of your old abilities and equipment, and this really killed any investment I could have had in any of the multiple worlds she inhabited. That she could jump from one to another at a moment's notice, learn crazy skills in another life, come back, and instantly have the solution for whatever problem she was facing, really ruined any suspense the story could have had.

When characters have a goddamn pause button at their disposal, the story better adjust the conflict to match that obscene level of power, or it's going to be boring as fuck.

That's true.

The idea I'm going for is more of a schism; Twilight as a foal discovers the world is different somehow. Off. With the new found rules and illogical flaws she tries to survive in it and she won't be the only one. My idea isn't "Twilight is the MC gamer HAX OP god in ponyflesh" but more of a world in which game rules have imprinted themselves and changed stuff.

The observant ones and those that realize the futility of going against the rules. I read the story for the world, not for the daily grind and status facts (though those were cool).

I wanted to see how she would explore and so. So yeah, you can expect folks to see the world being 'unnatural' or 'unfair' over time. Though I want to have her grow a little first.
I'll whip up a prologue and see how well it sounds from there.
