Midnight Chat With Sorcerer · 7:08am Jun 22nd, 2015

Hello and welcome to Midnight Chat with Sorcerer. Get your gentleman-edition teacups and fill them with tea because here's your host Sorcerer!

Thanks again, Nighty. Now, onto today's subject: characters. As fanfiction writers we feel obligated to keep all of the characters from the show...well...in character. But is that really necessary. I mean. A heck of a lot of people use AU as an excuse to make Fluttershy an evil psychopath or Twilight a dunce! So why isn't every fic like this? Because of the audience. Everyone likes to see the characters for who they are. Not that many people like to see characters acting out of character.

But then...there's Trixie. There is a particular headcanon, fully supported by me, by the way, that Trixie is not all that she seems to be, as discussed at an earlier date. Those little tiny bits where Trixie slips out of 3rd person, the ending of Magic Duel. They all end to a big possibility. Trixie is smoke and mirrors. That leads to writers, such as myself, having an opportunity to write Trixie however we want. But...in the human world Trixie isn't complex at all. We'll just leave it at that. But then...an episode of the show comes up.

Take Slice Of Life for instance. Headcanons were broken. Background ponies being in character according to the show's canon were now an obligation. Vinyl and Tavi having a relationship "Epic Wub Time" style wasn't canon so therefore people automatically had to adjust to it and move on. That's what I'm worried about with Trixie. Will our favorite showmare break this headcanon like one of her mirrors? Or will the mirror sustain and we will truly get to see what Trixie is like underneath that persona. Will we get to see Lyra become an anthropologist? Will we get to see Vinyl talk? Probably not. Are the stories written about it will become less popular as the show's canon forces them to move to AU? I don't know. The rest is up to you, the audience.

Put down the tea, drop the stereotype, and apologise to the Gentlemen of Fim Fiction.

I am in utter concurrence with what you say, by the by.

You're bit with Trixie is very interesting. I still don't like the character, but it gives me a way to see why someone would.
