100th Episode yes!

I know that I don’t usually blog about much, especially on episodes since so many others are giving very detailed thoughts about episodes already but I felt like I should try sharing my thoughts for this occasion.

First off: this episode was amazing. There were so many references and good ideas coming from this one! I thoroughly enjoyed it very much and thought it was a great special for the 100th episode. There was so much going on and I was amazed that they fit so much into just a half hour block and did it very well. So much new stuff to work with, there are going to be a lot of new ideas for fanfictions to write about as well, I can’t wait to find some.

There was a lot of humor out of this episode, for me personally, the funniest moment was definitely when Derpy slammed and locked the door on the mane 6…it felt like her saying “You didn’t do jack this episode, get outta here, it’s our turn to shine!”

Speaking of which, it looks like Derpy really does love muffins, hahaha! I know this idea is already done to death in the fandom, but it’s always felt more like it was just a fan-given trait and never really stuck out as “Canon” until this episode. I mean, it was shown that she liked muffins in Applebuck Season, but that felt more like her just sharing excitement with every other pony about getting fresh free muffins…and not knowing the horror that was to be endured from these concoctions… ,
That and i'm glad she's actually given a voice again .

Anyway, getting back on topic, the dilemma in the episode was a good story: A couple characters getting excited for a wedding, things go awry because of a screw up in the mail and things get hectic to try and pull things together at a split second notice. It was a pretty cool idea to have the one that caused the problem (Derpy) going through town along with other ponies who were involved in the ceremony to get together and do what they needed to do to pull off a last minute change in plans.

From BonBon (a.k.a Special Agent Sweetie Drops…) and Lyra with decorations, to DJ Pon-3 (Vinyl) and Octavia’s musical ‘guest pick-up service’, the background characters in the show all came together with their own talents and skills and worked together in a sense to get things done for somepony’s special day.

I also thought the moral of this story was relatable and great as well. It was showing viewers that even though the show is primarily about the mane 6 ponies, there are so many other characters in this universe that deserve some attention from fans and a time in the sun as well. This doesn’t just apply for the world of MLP, but for any big story, fandom or other worlds that we know of out there that has a story. We know about the main characters, but there are also some great side/ characters that deserve to be respected as well, since they aren’t (always) put in just to be a space filler, or for a lesson in the story

So what else can we take from this episode? How about getting some more “Canon Fodder” for new fiction ideas and whatnot?

-There is a new official married couple!
-Vinyl and Octavia are roommates
-Derpy finally gets some lines after a couple season hiatus!
Derpy also loves muffins
-Sea monster is back
-Lyra and ‘BonBon’ are best friends
-Secret Agent Sweetie Drops
-Doctor Whooves is canon confirmed
-Looks like Roseluck is only going to be famous for “The Horror!” for now
