I am conflicted... · 8:20pm Jun 8th, 2015
...About my story Mystic Hunters. I....am thinking about just scrapping it. I know that I do not have the ability or skill to complete this alone, and most of my attempts at finding a co author have failed. I did find two, but I haven't been in contact with one of them for a few days, and I do not wish to disturb him if he is busy with other things . I just feel as I have made something too big for a single person to handle. Least of all me.
This isn't a definite yes or no, however. I'm going to give it some more thought before making a decision. Until then, the story is on hiatus, sorry.
I've got a lot of thinking to do. Late.
I think you did pretty well for your first fanfic (at least, I think it's your first story). You had little problems in terms of creativity, but the execution though... it needs some work. No matter how awesome or great the concept is, lousy storytelling can be a real turn-off for readers. Have you ever read a story that was full of cliches/tropes, yet it received a ton of love? That's no fluke I can assure you. The story, No, I Am Not A Brony, Get Me Outta Equestria! by BronyWriter is the typical HiE, but many readers don't mind because of how damn well-written it is. The humor keeps the audience's attention, it's suspenseful in all the right moments, and the development of both characters and plot are adequate.
Your first story will be an adventure fic? How long did you want the story to be? If you think that you do not have enough skill to accomplish something, then practice. If you have little experience with narrative writing, then don't bite off more than you can chew. I recommend taking baby steps, and by that I mean practice writing short stories, one-shots. Not only will it help to improve your writing, you'll have more room to explore different ideas and themes rather than being restricted to just one story.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts so take it with a grain of salt. And try not to stress yourself out, that's one of the worst things a writer could do. Trust me, it'll show in your work.
3133127 Thank you. I'll keep what you said in mind.
But, I still wish to think about this...
