My Everfree Northwest Mini-retrospective · 9:21am Jun 7th, 2015
This is a repost from the comments section of CouchCrusader's own retrospective. I figured I'd post it here for the curious.
I could go on about EFNW this year, but I'll keep it (relatively) brief. Friday, I met up with FritzyBeat, got more CCG cards than I'd bought in a year, plus a couple ultra rare foils from AD Boosters... (Chrysalis, Identity Theft, and Discord, Give or Take.) I went to Luna Jax's Ponystock set to show support, because having been introduced to him by Fritzy, I realized just how cool of a guy he is. It was fairly mellow and laid back, well, at least in retrospect it was. I then floated out to go hang out at the hangout where I met a friend from last year, Bookish Delight, and we talked fanfiction for an hour or so until he had to be off to a late night writing panel I had little interest in attending. I then went to Cardapalooza, and proud Team Dash took dead last. Oh well, at least I got a free card pack and a limited distribution foil Luna card. Then I went back to Ponystock, where, upon reuniting with Fritzy, I slogged, tired and half-asleep, through an hour and a half of EDM, waiting for d.Notive's set... and I was not disappointed in the slightest. That set was the highlight of the con, and rewatching a rather iffy rip later still gives me chills.
Saturday, I actually went to a panel. I visited the DeLancie panel, which was my first panel of the con, unless you count Cardapalooza. Then I stood in line for autographs, getting a poster from M.A. Larson, and my Discord foil from Friday signed by John. Cut to Ponystock, and even though I'd intended to stay as long as P1K and Tarby's sets, I just didn't make it. I tried to go relax at the Fanfic hangout again, only to find it was pushed up an hour into the space the sets I really wanted to see were. And... that ends my Saturday.
Sunday was short for me, only really getting to go to the VA panel before I had to go prematurely. It was nice meeting you lot, and I hope to make it to some sort of pony con next year, most likely EFNW again... but I'm trying to make it to BronyCon. We'll see. If I learned anything, it's that I am *not* cut out for Cons, but I still had a blast. If I met any of you there, it was nice to! Only one interaction even so much as rubbed me the wrong way, and that was just an overzealous guard not sugar-coating a request. 'till next year, folks! Sorry for the wall of text!
Notes: I'm not sorry for a 'wall of text' here. It's what this site is for.
I only linked to Fritzy and Bookish because they sat with me at panels and were otherwise great friends- plus they're both very talented! Bookish does some great character-driven Slice of Life stories, and Fritzy's voice is just amazing! I don't intend this stuff as flattery, guys. I don't just say nice things about people to flatter them or whatever. I mean it. If I ever tell you that you are amazingly talented, that is my honest opinion. I don't inflate stuff like that. I am a supporter of honest, earned criticism, and I have nothing but praise for these guys. There was also a third friend I didn't mention by name, because I don't know where he hangs out on the internets, but as my Con Buddy for two years in a row, was awesome too. You know who you are, if you're reading this.
I can't remember if we ran into each other . Isn't bookish dellight the sweetest dude?

Yeah, he's great!
And I remember looking for you, but not having any luck. Then again, maybe we did meet and I just didn't remember... I remember Friday I was wearing a white long-sleeved Rainbow Dash shirt with her ripping up a Nyan Cat costume. I was also carrying around a grey backpack. Saturday and Sunday I was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with 'I'm a Brony, Deal With It' written on it, also featuring RD. If not, well, there's always next year!
