(Someone has scribbled over the next page and scrawled text and symbols over the original script in red ink. What follows is what can be deciphered, including both the original author and the vandal, which are put in bold.)

Faint traces of the Alicorn Empire (Masters of Sun and Moon) stretch from Everfree forest to the Crystal kingdoms, and yet this once (Masters of Horn and Wing) almighty race of beings seemed to disappear (Elements with the power of Gods) overnight. There is no evidence of a natural disaster; and if there had been such a thing it would have to have been of cataclysmic proportions to wipe out an empire that stretches over such a distance, something that surely would have left traces.
There are none.

Nothing.
It is both frustrating and maddening that I have been unable to find a single trace of what befell this fascinating race. (We control you) Tonight however, it seems that my work has caught the attention of the exact Pony I wished to question so many years ago. Princess Celestia (The skies Lie) herself has summoned me.
And tonight, I hope and pray she will have answers.
