First Story Complete · 5:55pm May 27th, 2015
It has just been two days since I posted my first story and a blog with it. As the story stands right now, it has five likes, three dislikes, two favorites, someone added it to a "Good Stories" bookshelf, one comment (not by me), and eighty-eight views. I am really surprised at how well it has done. I got the first dislike in 18 minutes, but had 3 likes at the end of the first day with the next day having the dislikes and likes being equal at 3 and 3. Today they are at the 5 and 3 mentioned before. Real surprise on my part, I never thought the likes would even tie, let alone pass, the dislikes, first story nerves and all. May not get featured, but the simple fact more people like it than dislike is more than enough to make me happy.
While I can say I wrote it just to entertain people, I made it quite clear I was given the topic/prompt and was given handicaps by another friend, meaning I had to post it. Even than I still wanted to make something I would enjoy reading, versus some 1,000 words only thing that sucked. I probably did write it to entertain others on some levels, not just because of my friends. Don't get me wrong, I do care about my story a ton, obvious from the daily updates to fix small mistakes I see and add small details to better people's enjoyment of it. While the dislikes are disheartening, I am tempted to not even count them since none of the people who disliked it made any mention as to why, despite the obvious fact my author's note asked for it. Maybe they didn't like the story and couldn't say why or expected a comedy because Discord was involved instead, either way I am not really that upset about it. The first person who liked my story was the first to comment and said it was a wonderful read after all. I might write more in the feature, maybe actually USE dialogue now and take more time on the writing, or not. I am still waiting to get someone to review/critique it though so I can improve on my writing. Maybe I will continue on after I get that so I can better myself first. Either way, next month will be interesting. I will decide what to do during next month after all, see if anything comes to mind for an interesting story.
