A one off statement by one of the changelings in my story had lead me to a concept I wanted to explore for the origins of the changelings. However, MLP Fiendship is Magic episode 05 totally killed that for me. I had intended it to run parallel to Daughter of the First Reign, which would be a nice expansion of my universe, however, I no longer feel like doing so as it would place my entire body of work into the territory of AU. Since I write in the in-between-spaces of canon this is not something I want to do with this story and it bummed me out because up until that point in the comic it was really promising to fit.
If Black and Green Alicorns ever gets uncanceled it'll have to be as the Reflections arc versions of the changelings, which could work, but it'd be vastly different than what I had been so excited to do. Without spoilers the Fiendship is Magic origin of the changelings makes no sense for the Reflections universe, nor did it claim to be related, so we'll see.
