MLP and the Bible? · 3:45am May 15th, 2015

I know I'll probably be unpopular for my opinions, but I, and others I know, think that MLP and the Bible share many parallels. The Bible clearly backs all of the virtues that the elements of harmony represent (Magic/God's Power Romans 1:16; kindness Ephesians 4:32; generosity 2Corinthians 9:7; loyalty Proverbs 18:24; honesty 2Corinthians 13:7; laughter Proverbs 17:22 ) Our favorite cartoon horses support Bible principles, so what? Do you find this true?

I will be following up on this as a series. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or ideas on MLP/Bible parallels. I would be interested in learning all I can about the subject. No rude debating in the comments. You can ask questions or state opinions, but please no bashing of other's ideas or opinions. MLP and the Bible are all about friends, so act like them.
PS: I use the KJV version.

Hmmm I have to say its an Interesting thought. While i dont know the mind of the Mrs Faust I have to say it could be coincidence. But Either way I suppose that the elements of harmony is a good thing to go by in any form. Personally, I really dont see Jesus preaching hate in any of his lessons but their was always that underlying message of love they neighbor and acceptance of all. But thats just my views on it

Yes, very true. Jesus preached about hating sin but loving the sinner. BTW thanks for the follow.

Such a controversial theme for the first blog you're a brave one aren't you? :rainbowlaugh:

Anyway, I think it's worth the time to write a few sentences about it.

Ok, I just deleted a good chunk of text and start anew, everything religious is just extremely difficult to handle.
For now, I decided to keep my opinion about the Bible for myself and instead tell you what I think religion should be like.
If you ask me, any human, regardless of his believes, should live so that he could die anytime with good conscience. In my opinion you don't have to go to a church/temple/mosque to pray to any higher power, if a good (doesn't really matter which one) is omnipresent, he will hear you no matter what. The problem with most religions is that humans try to understand a power so far above themselves that it's almost ridiculous.
The best comparison I can think of is that of pet and it's owner. What are we for our pets? We live for an eternity. We have powers far beyond their comprehension. We provide them with everything they need. We have the ultimate control over their lives (and even their deaths). If a creature like this would appear before me, I wouldn't hesitate to call it a god, or at least godlike. The intresting question however is, can the dog understand the thoughts of the "god" which provides him with everything he desires? I think we can agree that he never comes even close to understand the human mind.
And now, why should it be different with humans and their god? How can we, small fragil and flawed beings, even try to comprehend a power that's so far above our own that we must apear like ant's in comparison? How can we even hope to understand a mind that might be great enough to understand, control and even create an entire universe? How could we even dare to force our morals and virtues onto something that is that powerful? For me, the answer is incredibly simple. We just can't.
I strongly believe that there is a higher power somewhere and, honestly, I find the thought of the universe just happening by accident sort of terrifying. But at the same time, I don't think that there is ever any chance of me understanding what that great power wants and thinks. And the consequence of that is just that I try to live my life the best I can. I don't care who preached what, the message is far more important than the messenger. I just try to be the best human I can be and that has to be enough.

Good, that should be enough about religion, let's talk MLP :yay:
Let's talk about the elements of harmony first. Are they important? Oh yeah, oh the fuck yeah, they are maybe the most important thing to ever come across. And why are they so important? Because these five (yes FIVE) virtues can turn you a more than decent human being and a great friend. And if one has some, or maybe even all of those, in his heart the sixth element, friendship (friendship=magic), will appear.
The Bible may back those virtues up, but so does "The Lord of the Rings" and many other books too. Even ancient civilizations, long before the dawn of any monotheistic religion, valued honesty, loyalty, kindness and so on. So, yeah, I think we shouldn't give it credit for that.
But could the Bible have influenced MLP? Yes, yes, yes and YES. Heck, this isn't even something that should be up for discussion. MLP was created in a country that has a very strong christian believe, even your money states "In God we trust" (yes I'm looking at you people of the US :rainbowhuh: ). Furthermore, every western civilization is founded on the christian believes and the Ten Commandments are practically the foundation of most of our legal codes. I think what we call Christian values has influenced MLP to some degree, simply because we all are influenced by those values.
But the question whether or not Celestia might represent Jesus, God or "only" the archangel Michael (for all of whom I could state evidence) is a so hotly disputed topic that even the sarcastic dipshit that I am won't touch that one. :applejackconfused:

So, yeah, I think this should be enough for now.
I hope i didn't digress? :twilightsheepish:

3124572 Hey, I don't mind long comments or anything of the sort; I rather welcome them. I'll try not to preach. ;)

Your opinion on religion and God has a lot of truth behind it. God is not someone we can fully understand. I simply cannot wrap my mind around the fact that He is who He is. He always has been and always will be. Whether or not we can see Him is not reason to believe Him. (Pinkie Sense should be enough to prove that.) The things God has done are the proof. My life was not an accident that came because some star exploded, which would be ridiculous. Someone, someone powerful, made our universe and everything that has ever been or was. The complex design of my body simply cannot be the product of evolving without a purpose in mind. The reason God has made is not entirely understandable. Now figuring out which religion represents Him is a problem.

Personally, the thought of religion makes me gag. :pinkiesick: Who wants to live their lives by a set rules made by people so that they can achieve some semblance of similarity with God. I won't bash other religions, but praying a repeat prayer everyday is not how I picture closeness to God or even a way to make myself a better person. If I was to choose one *Cough* religion, which I already have, it would be Christianity, which wasn't intended to be a "religion", but a relationship. I'll be talking more about that in my next blog.

I do agree that MLP and Bible along with most of the other beliefs share parallels. The elements of Harmony are definitely something everyone should live by. While living by them does improve the kind of person you are, I still don't really like myself as a person anymore than I did a year ago. Others might like me more. I'm not anymore perfect than Twilight is stupid. :twilightoops: Still, I'd rather live by five virtues than none at all.

I'd better stop here, lest I discuss my entire slew of blog topics :moustache: Thanks for the follow BTW.

~Melly~

Yes! I totally agree with your comparisons. I'm also a Christain, too.

Thank you! And thanks for the follow! This one is very simple compared to what I plan in the future. I figured I'd start out simple, and move up, quickly.
