This is probably the first blog post that I'm going to keep up, if only because of how important I think it is overall. This is probably the first blog post that I'm going to keep up, if only because of how important I think it is overall. For those of you who don't know, I have recently begun a new story, Dream's End. Over the course of two or so weeks, I have written approximately 24,000 words for it. Why is this important?

Because I have no excuses for neglecting An Epic for Gilgamesh for so long.

By this point, my less-than-stellar update schedule is more than just a small problem; it is an issue that I can no longer ignore. If I can get 24,000 words out in two or three weeks, I have no excuse to take almost five months to write 10,000. It's not as though I've lost interest with this story. I still enjoy writing it more than ever, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

The main problem with my writing (besides the many, many other problems) is that I can never settle on one specific path. An Epic for Gilgamesh is, sadly, perhaps my worst case of this. The plot, climax, and length of this story have all changed so much since I began writing it that I find it difficult to settle on something I legitimately like. I haven't even really touched the court sequence in the story proper, but many elements of that have changed so much that I find it hard to not give everything away or make the foreshadowing incredibly blatant or too subtle by accident, all while introducing characters or plot points out of nowhere halfway through.

That is where the main announcement comes in. Until I can complete Dream's End and work out the kinks, An Epic for Gilgamesh will go on a temporary hiatus. In exchange, I will use any time I have to attempt to finalize the plot points of this story while also going back through and making some minor changes. These changes will mostly be to grammar, spelling, and things like that, but I will see if there's anything I can do to just make the story more pleasant and enjoyable overall.

That being said, updates will not cease entirely. If I manage to finalize everything before I complete Dream's End, I will try to work on this story in conjunction with that one. And given that Dream's End is shaping up to be over 100 chapters long, that does not seem entirely unlikely.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience, and I understand completely if any of you want to stop tracking this story while it's under maintenance. I will make no promises when the next chapter will go up, but it will hopefully be some time before the end of the year. Again, I thank you all for being so patient with me, and I'm sorry to have to keep you all waiting even longer than before.

Thank you! I'll try to make sure it's worth the wait.
