Guys, I've had a fun story idea kicking around in my head for ages, and I've just written the first couple pages of it. I LOVE IT so far. Sooooo much love. That said, though...
I don't have a lot of spare time in my life, so if I was to start posting this new fic, updates might be spaced apart.
Also: it's not Sparity-centric.
However, I do love this idea, and what I have of it on the page so far makes me grin. It's adventure-y, like Of Age, and show-like, like How To Woo Your Lady, but sans romance. I feel like I've told Spike and Rarity's story in all the ways I'd like to tell it, so I wouldn't want to do another epic Sparity-centered fic. This story is focused on other ponies--though Spike and Rarity are involved, because everypony is.
So I guess I have two questions:
1. Would anyone read a multi-chapter fic by me that isn't specifically geared towards Sparity (though probably will have hints, because I can't help myself)?
2. If I couldn't update frequently, would you rather I just not post it at all? This wouldn't be another Lunch Dates, which was ill-planned and now on indefinite hiatus. I would fully plan on finishing this fic. It just might take a really long time.
It's a lot to think about. Like I said, I'd want to be certain I could see this through before I post any of it. I really want to tell this story, but I want to do it right by you guys, my readers. I still feel bad about Lunch Dates.
My plan would be to avoid posting anything until I'm at least a couple chapters in to be sure I can handle the work it's going to take. Then I'd file it under "MUST DO TASKS" in my brain until it's all the way finished.
Thoughts on any of this?

I'd probably read it, if just for the hints of Sparity.
All seriousness, it would depend on the story. I mean, you've been pretty vague about the specifics, but unless it's extremely offensive or a bunch of characters are out of character for no reason, I'd still read it even if it were updated at a snails pace. I favorited Mort Takes a Holiday, and that story updates once a year at best.
I read just about any story that catches my interest, so I would need more details in order to answer. Either way, it's best to just write whatever you want and just have it there for anyone who feels like reading it. Also, I am not one of those self-entitled readers that believe my pleasure is more important than the writer's life, so simply updating when you can is fine.
For me, I could go either way on this. On the one hand, reading anything written by you would be awesome and something I would totally do! But on the other hand, if you don't think you can do it with all that's going on in your life, then don't. Whichever option you choose, I'll support it!
I would definitely read said fic, especially if it's a story stemmed from an idea that seems to have you so excited to put into writing. I'm also interested to see how you handle the perspectives of characters other than Rarity and Spike, since I believe so far everything you've written consists points of views from those two only. Here's to hoping it's a story that features your personal best pony.
As for the update concerns, I'm personally going to be invested in ponies for at least the next 5 years, so I can handle some waiting. Whatever you choose, just do what's best for you. : )
If Spike is featured at all, don't bother. He's a worthless piece of crap that'd be better off dead.
If you like it, post it. It's as simple as that, it's your account after all. I like that you have addressed the failed Lunch dates experiment, and that it's not gonna be similar to this.
Sparity is good, but good ideas should always come first.
I'd still read it. I love Sparity, but I also think you're just a good writer. So, I don't mind if it's not about Sparity.
Still, it would be neat if it takes place after Spike and Rarity already got together (perhaps set after one of your other fics), and we have nice moments of them as a happy couple in the background. Unless, that doesn't fit your idea, of course.
To be honest, your stories are what got me on this site, so whatever you come up with I'll probably read it.

I think I am going to give this a shot. :) I'm going to see if I can churn out a few chapters before I post anything, though. If I can't manage to produce a handful of chapters in a timely fashion, then I'll know this project won't be feasible. So fingers crossed! I'm excited to feature a different pony in the spotlight for a change. A pinker pony...

Oh... not more sparity from you is certainly a bad new for me. Specially since I only read sparity. But I understand that you want to explore another aspects of this series, so go on, and good luck : ) thanks for all the sparity you had brought to us specially "of age". Now i guess it's time for others to get some nice stuff from you ^^
