I just read Asimov's "The Last Question" while dealing with writer's block · 1:19am Mar 8th, 2015

I'm nothing!

I've done nothing!

Any achievement on my name is nothing. Everything I've done to become a writer is futile and close to nothing.

Edgar A. Poe is a writer. Mario Puzo is a writer. Jo Rowling is a writer. Lovecraft, Asimov, Tolkien, Sir Doyle, Neruda, Mistral, JB von Herb, Key Tapper. THOSE ARE WRITERS!

Entonces...

¿Que soy yo?

If you're worried that you're failing as a writer, why don't you try collab writing?

You know, find someone who will write a story with you? Like what TheMyth does with Lucky on 'Where Is My Love?'

You could pick up on ideas to help you improve yourself and your own material, at the very least.

You're probably just low on inspiration. But yea, try writing with other people.

You know, you are a writer. A great one. Do you know how many of your fics I've absolutely enjoyed? The answer is a lot. Comparing you to me is comparing a sapling to a tree. And I for one don't want to see one of my best friends go into that "permanent hiatus" stage. So listen up. Whenever I think of writing, I think of an old childhood favorite of mine called "Arthur". Each episode centers around a different character. I just chose a character from the roster of MLP and write about them. Fighting game style. You can chose my waif-AHEM- I mean Trixie or you can chose a wild card like Zecora or Big Mac. Do something that surprises people. Do something different. Shake things up.

Heh...I should listen to my own advice sometime...

that's what you deserves for saying this:ajbemused:
all your fic : Doom patrol, Mare-do-well, Trixie deadshot, ponies and robot wars ...
all your little babies, insulted like this
you're a good writter and you just got writting block, enjoy a break and play a video game

Heh, it's painfully ironic how, despite my dislike for Evangelion, I tend to go into 'episodes' as bad or worse than that series. If this happens again I'll die of embarrassing. Maybe if I use an "wangst jar"...

Yeah, I think that could work. Share the weight with someone else, it could be interesting at least.

I suppose I'm taking thins too seriously. Maybe I should limit myself to read for a couple of days.

Well, now I have to find something upbeat and lifting in between my books. *looks at his shelve; One Hundred Years of Solitude, Hamlet, The Raven, Moby-Dick* It'll take some time.

Readers and good samaritans give good suggestions, close friends try to be closer and give a thoughtful advice. My best friend appears, punch me in the face and calls me out for my crap.

Okay, you guys win, I'll get a hold f myself and no more wangst.

2860189 Sharing your problem with someone else who understands your position helps a lot. I'm not the greatest writer in the world, but I was a hell of a lot worse when I started out. It isn't a sign of weakness to ask other people for help with your writing. Hell, how do you think my story, 'Where Did Daddy Go?' did so well? Cause' I had someone help me out with the ending to it.

2860189 Of course there is that...other suggestion made by this fellow... 2858113

2860189 why so serious ? :rainbowlaugh:
Watch some movies or do something not too much writting related to "clean" your mind
ever watched "21 jump street" ?
i watched it a few hours ago.....priceless:moustache:

Advice and help is one thing, I'm fairly used to that (my blogs during February are a sounding proof of that). The problem is that, I usually take the characters I write on a very personal level. On an old forum, I once had to give up an entire fic because the main character ended up too different of what I wanted.

I suppose I'm too damn proud sometimes.

Have you seen Kingsman? It's so freaking AWESOME!

2860367 Proud? You're talking to the man who's ego is so big he could give Queen Chrysalis a run for her money...Or bits. He also was the one who made Trixie a Mary Sue. Don't make my mistake. Be proud, just don't be so proud it blinds you of reality. Sometimes, a friend is all someone needs for inspiration.

2860367 i've seen the trailer and yeah it looks awesome
unfortunately, that movie isn't on my streaming website yet....:applejackunsure:
i guess i'm stuck with 'Justice league: war' for tonight

Oh, the Mary Sue road. Been there, done that. It implied Trixie being Celestia's previous student and surrogate daughter, with Holmes-like fighting style and being able to overcome Discord's mind manipulation.

2860466 The best way I keep writing my favorite character from becoming a Mary Sue, is making her the villain. As I am doing now. In the upcoming story, I will be making Human Trixie the greatest villain in my fanfics. (Although Nightmare is the one pulling all the strings. I swear if Black Ultron comes and quotes...) That way, the character can not fall under the same circumstances as others.

Although she eventually will fight Mary Sue!Trixie and ActuallyPrettyGood!Trixie

It is kind of symbolic in a way. All of the popular interpretations of Trixie are coming together to duke it out for the sake of the universe and more. ...and I'm taking this way too seriously.
