A unsure idea · 11:31pm Feb 19th, 2015
Last night I had a crazy idea, one I never thought I'd have. Normally I don't write fan fiction, I mean looking at many of my earlier personal stories, "my god they are fan fiction" I realised. Granted they are bloody awful, full of holes and the plot can be said to not even exist. But they use characters, cities and worlds from the games and shows I liked or loved a lot.
I used to never like fan fiction, after reading some of my best friend Frank's fan fiction on this site I wonder why I disliked the idea? its a simple matter of taking what you love and making your own adaptation of it. Some are good and some are bad that is a given and also depends on personal taste. I like to adapt concepts to my liking such as taking the base idea of a anime called Full metal alchemist and a dream I had to come up with a story.
The idea I'm going to be on about is different. After reading my friends fan fiction and thinking it over, last night an idea played out in my head like the short begging of a movie, "what am I thinking?" I wondered, am I actually considering this? I've an idea for my own story on this site though am unsure and request guidance from those more experienced then me in fan fiction. that is to say you who read this, I seek structured and helpful advice.
Writing a story starts and ends with characterisation.
Even if you will need to describe both characters and the environment in which they are acting.
Now, what is theidea? Could you summarize it?
Or, make a short description of what you had in mind?
Who is involved and where is it taking place? When is it?
What made you think of this in the first place?
3315190 Ah, this idea has already been started, then rewritten and started again. On my fics it is called 'The Chained Luna Cycle' or just the CLC for short. It was a rushed idea before but since it has been rewritten it is now the joint sequel to my three other fics. 'The Fox and The Moon', 'The Queen and Her Servant' which I'm rewriting and 'The Librarian and The Alchemist'. CLC is already seven chapters in and is doing much better in every aspect then its previous form.
3315240 Maybe the idea wasn't all that bad, after all.
Rewriting a story is something you may have to do a few times, just a matter of how deep you have to dig in order to save the story.
Oh well, it wasn't exactly a new blog *giggles*
Sequelisation is sometimes the best option. You may even consider a second line of events outside the original chain of events, for what ever reason, later on.
The latest title does some interesting.
