Have you ever written something, done nothing with for a while... Then you go back and find that it is actually just about the worse thing that you have ever written? Well that is what happened.
The longer you leave a story alone, and the better your writing style gets, the worse old projects appear to you. The truth is, they were never that great to begin with.
When I look back on the stories that I've written on here.. That is what I see, they are terrible stories, and the lack of interest in them was completely justified. I see that with my stories that are not pony related as well, I don't really share them with people but that doesn't change the fact that they were terrible stories.
I was writing one story for the 2013 NaNoWriMo, it seemed acceptable to me as I was writing it.. But I didn't finish, I didn't even get close to the goal, I was just so excited to be writing something like that, which wasn't a bad thing, the story was. I shall never finish that story, it wasn't all that good of an idea to begin with. The one I was working on the following summer is one I am restarting and working on a little bit. However it's the 2014 NaNoWriMo story that I am still working on, I got the goal of 50,000 words, that made me ridiculously happy, but I am still working on it which is even better. Planning is a good thing. When I begin Nocturnal again, start from scratch, the plot will be so much different, everything will be.. I'll probably come up with a better name for it as well.
Hmm... I deleted the story on FimFiction but I still have it on my computer.. I should see what it's like.

Like I said.. From scratch, entirely new.. No trace of the earlier thing will remain.. Where was I? Planning works (for me at any rate), starting again, still working on a story, looking back on old stories..
I think I said everything that I wanted to, let's wrap this up.
Looking back on old stories that you've written can be terrifying, but the more you write, the better you will become. I may have been a terrible writer, I'll probably look back on the stories that I'm working on right now and think they are terrible at some point in the future. Just like the stories I wrote not even a year ago have gotten better.
Keep writing, you'll get better, and then you can see just how far you've come.
With that in mind I am coming back to abandoned stories that I wrote on here. I am taking the core of them, the core that isn't just some terrible story, and I am starting them again. Starting them anew.
I did disappear, but I am a better writer now then before. Perhaps now I'll actually gain some attention for my stories, stories that are not terrible. I have a task before me, one that I hope to succeed in.
If you actually read through all of my ramblings... Thank you, it's a nice thing to know you didn't just scroll past a blog post from some author that hasn't been active on here in so long. Maybe you liked my writing before, I hope you will like it even more now.
As I've stated before, I love the attitude you have for your writing here. You sound a lot like me 10 years ago when I first started writing. I still have the first story I've ever written, and it is horrible. Whenever I get stuck in my writing and start to get frustrated, I pull it out and read it to remind myself just how far I've come. It never fails to give me a confidence boost and always gets me out of the funk I'm in.
As for your hopes that your future stories will get attention; I believe you have tremendous potential. If you work hard on this story, I promise that I will not only stay right by your side the whole way, but I will do everything in my power to help you get noticed. Best of luck to you!
